2 f Levi Werner Anchorage Folk Festival 2020 Visual Artist

leviwerner.com

Sincere appreciation to Levi Werner for his generous donation of our 2020 AFF artwork, as seen on the cover of this program. Levi recently graduated from UAA with a BFA in printmaking and plans to live in Anchorage Alaska for a while longer, teaching and doing what he can to contribute to the art community on a local level. Drawing has been at the core of Levi’s art practice from an early age. Since 2015 he has focused his creative energies on creating art through the process of printmaking. The combination of printmaking and drawing allows a seemingly endless expanse for creative expression and investigation.

This year’s artwork is more than just a confabulation of chickens. It’s a monument to collaboration among the arts.

sherri hadley Memorial silent auction “She left us too early but the soul of her musical influence resounds.” Dec 8, 1958 - Feb 17, 2019

Sherri Hadley was an enduring supporter of Alaska music and dance. Please join us in the lobby to place your bid to carry on Sherri’s legacy. Her friends have gifted the Festival with these mementos of her love for music… Lanikai Concert Ukulele, Model LKP-C • Koa body with abalone binding and a rosewood fingerboard on a mahogany neck. In fine playable shape with no visible cracks & working tuners. Made in Indonesia, comes with original blue soft case. Bidding to begin at $75. Kentucky Mandolin A-Style • She’s got a little history - a major repair to a broken neck, but she’s been repaired & tunes up nicely. No tag or serial number found, but there’s a nice solid foam black case. We’ve put on a fresh set of strings & sit back to listen. Bidding to begin at $200. Violin • Violin appears to be turn of 20th Century vintage and plays just like a perfect old-time fiddle should! Its condition is typical of such an age, with some open seams & repair, but it tunes well & sounds great. Some of the fine tuners could use repair. This fine fiddle comes with a light foam black case and two bows. The first is a carbon-fiber Codabow Aspire in good shape. The second is a Brasil pernambuco bow. We’ll set a minimum bid on opening day… stay tuned! Keep the music going. Visit the AFF table in the lobby to bid on one of Sherri’s beloved instruments. (Try them out first at the Instrument Swap, Saturday, Jan. 25 in PSB 110.) Winners announced Sunday evening, January 26, from the main stage.
