Overview:

The ICS-256 Pro/ ICS-256 S Pro (in the following named as ICS-256 Pro) multi Slot and multi function device allows to transfer files from Flash Memory Cards, Microdrives, USB Memory Sticks and from wireless connected devices (e.g. mobile phones) to the PC. This will be achieved by the five slot media reader, the Infra-Red & Bluetooth receivers and the front USB port. The innovative changeable PinProtection reduces the cost of service and repair and also the down times in case of damaged pins because this module may be changed by any person who administrates a Digital Photo Kiosk. UL, FCC and CE certified.

The following standards are supported:

• Compact Flash Card, Type I & II (with embedded Pin protection) • IBM / Hitachi MicroDrive (via Compact Flash slot Type II) • Smart Media Card (push-push connector) • xD-Picture Card (push-push connector) • SD Secure Digital Memory Card (push-push connector) • MMC Multimedia Memory Card (push-push connector) • MS Memory Stick and Memory Stick Pro (push-push connector) • MS Memory Stick Duo, Duo Pro (no adapter needed, p-push connector)

Wireless Connection :

• Infra Red (IrDA) • Bluetooth (BT)

Front USB Connector :

• Type A USB Memory Stick USB 2.0 & USB 1.1

SmartCard Reader (only ICS-256 S Pro) :

• Support for ISO 7816 Class A/AB SmartCards, T=0, T=1 Protocol

In total there are five to six active USB devices build into the ICS-256 Pro

• 4 Slot Card Reader (CF/Microdrive, SMM, MS, SD/MMC, …) • xD-Picture Card Reader • IRDA • Bluetooth • Front USB 2.0 Connector • SmartCard Reader (only ICS-256 S Pro)

To minimize the demand for free USB Ports on the PC motherboard to connect all the devices by an own USB Port, a seven Port USB 2.0 HUB is integrated in the ICS-256 Pro. Therefore the ICS-256 Pro will be connected to the PC via one USB port only.

USB Specification :

• The ICS-256 Pro is an USB 2.0 device

Changeable PinProtection :

The innovative PinProtection, which is changeable in case of damaged CF pins gives a great advantage in service because this module may be changed by any person who administrates a Digital Photo Kiosk.

Mainboard :

There are two active devices soldered on the PC: • Media Controller PL-2535, USB 2.0 Flash controls the CF/SMM/SD-MMC/MS Slots

• uPD720113, 7-Port High Speed USB Hub Controller (USB 2.0) connects the Flash Media Controller and the six Type A USB onboard connectors to the PC.

Other USB Components :

To realize the wireless connection via IRDA, Bluetooth and the x-D Memory Card Reader, three different USB devices are in use:
