• Tropical Cyclone Eloise made landfall in Beira on 23 January (2 am), with winds of 140 km/h and gusts up to 160 km/h. The epicenter of the cyclone was reported to be in Buzi district

• After the landfall, Beira received 250 mm of rain in 24 hours, according to INAM, while other areas that were flooded ahead of Eloise’s landfall—including Buzi and Nhamatanda—also received additional heavy rains.

UPDATES (28/01): • The assessment ongoing conducted only by INGD and Government technicians. The INGD delegate and other government officials went on the 28th to Machaze to join the district assessment teams.

• The Accommodation Centres in Mossurize and Machaze are already closed.

• In Sussundenga there are 639 families in two Accommodation centres whose houses are flooded due to the high level of the Mussapa River.

Updates (28/01): • The levels of Limpopo River have stabilized and while still high they came down and there is no indication at the moment (from other stations) for alarm. • Massangena district is still inaccessible • SPAE Gaza had already made a request to the government before Eloise – there will be a high need for seeds and agricultural inputs as rains haves continued since. • A SMS sent form Linha Verde to Chokwe, Chibuto and Guijá, informing of the possibility of floods INHAMBANE

Updates (28/01): • The level of Save River is still high but continues to reduce • 570 people (117 families) that have been in the temporary accommodation centre in Nova Mambone.
