Heidi Newfield the diminutive blond who became famous for her explosive voice, rambunctious stage antics, and trademark unruly curls points out, “That was still me. But I felt that I had been painted into a corner, and I wanted to be able to branch out. I wanted to depart from that simply because I felt that I could do more. ” So with a heavy heart, a deep respect for where she came from, and an artist’s hunger to evolve, Heidi Newfield flew the Trick Pony coop.

She alighted—as fate would have it—in the capable hands of famed producer Tony Brown. “He wouldn’t have time for me,” she remembers thinking, “between and Reba and Brooks & Dunn.” Yet Brown was intrigued by the project, and after giving Heidi three hours of his undivided attention, he was in. Brown and Newfield’s great alliance is never more evident than in the ’s crowing jewel and lead single, “Johnny And June.” Written by Newfield, Stephony Smith and Deanna Bryant. Heidi reaches not just new heights as an artist, but new depths as well. She gracefully leads us through the sweet, breathy yearning of “All I Wanna Do,” the simple hurt of “Love Her And Lose Me,” and the retro groove of “When Tears Fall Down.” Closing with the “redneck-clever” anthem “Knocked Up,” the album whirls its way through a 360 degree tour of Heidi Newfield. And the Clark County Fair is looking forward to Heidi sharing these songs during opening night.

SATURDAY, August 8th – 7:30pm

For a man whose new album begins with a powerful song called “Footsteps of Our Fathers,” Pat Green has blazed his own trail in a way that few artists today can claim. Even with all the artistic and popular success he has experienced along the way, What I’m For is the stirring sound of Pat Green arriving as a major American singer-songwriter who has managed to make his own way in country music and beyond. To borrow a memorable phrase from the man’s biggest hit to date, “Wave On Wave” of new faces have come along, but few have ever made such a vivid impression, both as a recording artist and performer as Pat Green.

True to the title of this latest, greatest and decidedly lived-in album, Pat Green has accomplished all this by truly knowing what he’s for -- and what he’s against too. He’s done it by daring to follow his own strong gut instincts as an artist, And more than ever before on What I’m For, Green has done it by making music that honestly reflects his own attempt in his mid-thirties to actually grow up and walk like a man -- one very human footstep at a time.

SUNDAY, August 9th – 7:30pm

When Lee Ann Womack was a little girl in Texas, helping her mother clean house on Saturday as they listened to country music on the radio, she already knew what she wanted to do with her life. And not being able to do it right then broke her heart. “I was so sad to have to be so far away from the music business, when I wanted to be right in the middle of it—even when I was a little kid,” she recalls. “That played into the way I sang, the kind of music I listened to, the voices I loved and was drawn to—like or George Jones.”

Lee Ann’s youthful sadness is gone now, yet the lessons she learned from Tammy, George and other country-to-the-bone icons who captivated her as a child come through loud and clear on , her seventh and most impressive outing to date in a career full of great music. Simply put, the collection of songs, the exquisite production and the sheer artistry of Lee Ann’s straight-from-the-heart vocals—whether powerful, vulnerable, achingly sad or joyful—combine to make this one stunning album.

But it shouldn’t be surprising that Crazy is Lee Ann’s best work ever. She co-wrote “New Again,” ”Have You Seen That Girl,” “If These Walls Could Talk” and “Everything But Quits,” four songs that, according to the project’s legendary producer, Tony Brown, “set the standard” for the lyric writing on the remainder of the 12-song CD. Tony, George Strait’s long-time producer, brought in most of the musicians who’ve played on George’s records through the years, adding yet another layer of comfort—and excellence—to the studio environment. And it shows.
