A word from… The « OL ANG’ELLES » team

End of season 2017-2018 has been celebrated with a lunch at Restaurant « Rive Gauche » by about 50 members of OL ANG’ELLES accompanied by Raoul and friends of him Caribbean percussions, culmination of a season where OL got 2 new titles (Women’s Champions League and French D1).

Camille who stopped her career end of season offered a jersey involved in a raffle… A fan since the very beginning won the Jersey.

For OL ANG’ELLES the objective to be present at all the matches has been achieved with travels in Poland, Kazakhstan, Manchester, Barcelona or Ukrainia…

The new season 2018-2019 has already started (due to the World Cup in June/July 2019), with a trip to end of August and a new trip to for the first round of European Women’s Champions League.

Today about 200 members have already joined the association for the new season with the same ambition : To be present all the time and everywhere, even if all matches are now broadcasted by French TV and frequency of French Team matches will make objective harder to reach and will require more motivation and investment.

Mercato… New players in the Group

- End of contract after a period of loan (, , ) - Move to another club (Pauline Peyraud-Magnin, Mylaine Tarrieu, Morgan Brian) - End of career (, Elodie Thomis, Corine Petit, d’Hommeaux ?)

So the team has been renewed even if a lot of leaders were always there.

4 Foreign players arrived in the Team.

Isobel Christiansen, « IZZY » (27 years) joined Lucy her former teammate in Manchester City, where she was named Best Player of 2016 Championship.

U19 European Champion in 2009, she has 27 caps/6 goals (2018 September).

Carolin Simon, « CARO », (25 years) played (with her former club Friburg) beginning of the Season 2016-2017 a friendly match against OL.

U19 European Champion and U20 World Championship finalist in 2012, she has 12 caps since 2016. She played 2 matches during 2017 Euro in Nederland against Sweden (0-0) and against Russia (2-0 for Germany).

LISA Weiss (31 years) arrived from SGS Essen (6th, then 5th in last 2 seasons in Bundesliga).

International in the team European Championship in 2009, she has about 10 caps and played 2 matches during 2017 Euro (Hungary – Germany : 0-1) and (Russia – Germany : 0-4).

At the end of mercato, at the end of NWSL League, Jessica Fishlock, « JESS », (31 years), has been loaned by her club (Seattle Reign), where she played since 2013 (116 matches / 26 goals).

She was named in the top team of NWSL Season in 2013/2014/2015/2017. In 2017/2018, she lost (with Seattle Reign) in semi final of Play-Off against Portland.

After starting her career in Bristol City and Alkmaar, she played in freelance in Australia (Melbourne City) and in Frankfurt in 2014/2015 where she played UEFA Women’s Champions League (until ¼ final) with MARO. Welsh International : 101 caps / 29 goals (2017 April).

Coming from Academy, the 3 OL players EVA, DANIELLE and LORENA, (who have played the U19 World Cup in ) joined in the professional team the 3 other young players SELMA, EMELYNE, MELVINE (who played the U20 World Cup).

Reynald PEDROS served one game of the 2 matches of the suspension due to Final Cup in Strasburg. Good rhythm and constant domination of OL Team, with good start of the new players « IZZY » and « CARO ».

LOSC Team had 3 new players.

Danielle Tolmais (23 years) Morgane Nicoli (21 years) Lina Boussaha (19 years) <- from Soyaux (4 goals) <- loaned by Montpellier <- loaned by PSG

Another new player Carla Polito (from Arras, 18 years), potential basic player of the team, could not play the match (Just arriving yesterday from U20 World Cup).

AMEL started the season as forward and scored 2 goals.

ADA scored also 2 goals (1 goal after 5 minutes).

Ada (5th) (46th) Shanice, Izzy, Amandine and Lucy scored also. 4 of the 8 goals have been scored with head in the penalty area.

Shanice (33rd) Izzy (64th) Amandine (72nd ) Lucy (87th)

LUCY was omnipresent on the right side, projecting herself in the penalty area as a forward in order to score.

EVA Kouache got the opportunity to start in D1 in front of many OL Ang’Elles supporters, despite the fact the season started early. A lot of supporters coming from North of France, Normandy and area joined other supporters coming directly from Brittany (U20 World Cup).

J2 - OL - Soyaux : 4 - 0 (ADA, AMEL x/2, GRIEDGE M’Bock Bathy) (attendance : 673)

A lot of players left Soyaux at the end of the previous season : Elba Vergès (->Espanyol), Marie-Aurèle Awona (->Dijon), Danielle Tolmais (->Lille), Justine Deschamps (stop), Léonie Fleury (->Rodez), Gwendoline Djelbar (stop), Elise Courel (->Yzeure), Lucie Esnault (goalkeeper 18 years,->Montpellier) Elodie Nakkach and Allison Blais left the club at winter Mercato, moving to .

OL : 6 fr/11, 8 fr/14, 8 fr /16 - Soyaux : 10 fr/11, 13 fr/14, 15 fr/16

Second match where Charles Devineau replaced Reynald Pedros as head coach.

At the 8th minute of the match, OL Ang’Elles celebrated the Legend with number 8. Lotta decided to stop her career ; she couldn’t play during last year due to recurrent problem at neck.

As the first day, ADA scored quickly (after 5 minutes).

Ada (5th)

Great match of AMEL; a lot of activity and squares. Set up for Ada’s goal and to finish 2 goals in 2 days.

Amel (33rd) (57th)

Return on field from injury, WENDIE was crucial on corner; GRIEDGE at the top, was there to score.

Griedge (84th)

If evident Penalty was given to EUGENIE, score would probably be the same as last season (5-0), even if Soyaux was in progress.

SARAH did the Save, the only one Save of the match, winning her duel with Anna Clérac.

The most important actions were on the left side, thanks to AMEL. Speedy substitute helped ADA and EUGENIE by delivering crosses from the right wing.

SAKI Kumagaï, always omnipresent on the field, thanked all the supporters on Instagram.

J3 - EA Guingamp - OL : 0 - 3 (EUGENIE Le Sommer x/3) (attendance : 735)

Just arrived from Norway, some OL Ang’Elles supporters went to Brittany and met the pleasant volunteers of Guingamp.

New : Supporters couldn’t be located in main stand or along the Field; just only behind the goals in order not to disturb (for noisy reason) the TV Broadcasting (Journalist reporting and ambience sound).

OL : 5 fr/11, 6 fr/14, 8 fr/16 - EAG : 8 fr/11, 11 fr/14, 14 fr/16

The Coach Sarah M’Barek and 7 players left Guingamp : Marine Pervier (->Nantes), Suzy Morin (->Rodez), Margaux Bueno (->GF38), Agathe Ollivier (->St Malo), Luce Ndolo Ewele (->Ambilly), Jeanne Dolain (->Nantes), Jade Lebastard (->Rennes).

2 new players arrived before this match.

Fanny Hoarau So,always players of the same team. Ekaterina Tyryshkina <- from Rodez <- from Rodez

French U20 Midfield Sana Daoudi without a club (after playing in PSG and Athletico Madrid) joined EA Guingamp just after the match against OL.

Turnover in OL : LISA, Goalkeeper for the first time, EMELYNE first basic place in the team, with CARO, KADEISHA and IZZY.

EUGENIE was very competitive and efficient, playing in front of her family. She scored for the first time this season (in D1).

Strangely, she has been forgotten in the top ten of the best players Trophy in the World and in the top 15 of players chosen for the first Women Golden Ball.

Eugénie (67th) (71th) (86th)

When SAKI entered as midfield, OL made the difference thanks to EUGENIE (3 goals). But OL had the same difficulties in the game as in Norway, Guingamp making a pressing in area during the 1st half time, disturbing Lyon players... on an artificial field.

OL Players at the end of the match recognized and thanked the OL Supporters who did 2 long trips (Norway & Guingamp).

J4 - OL – PFC : 5 - 0 (ADA Hegerberg x/3, , AMANDINE Henry) (attendance : 973)

This match was as a happy reunion, with Florence Guillemin the France Cup final’s Referee. Nobody in the OL supporters can forget her.

Small delicious detail : Reynald Pedros having served his suspension was seating again on the bench and had the privilege to shake Florence’s hand at beginning of the match, after Ada and Wendie.

Some starts in PFC this summer: Anissa Lahmari (-> back to PSG), Léa Declercq (->Dijon), Aïssatou Tounkara (->Atletico Madrid), and Céline Deville (->to Nancy end of the last season).

Contrary to the views of the Staff, last years, PFC (ex Juvisy) did some recruitment in Foreign countries.

Linda Sällstrom, 30 years Michaela Abam, 21 years Eseosa Aigbogun,25 years Alice Benoit, 22 years <-Vittsjö/Fin,83 caps/35g <- US, Sky Blue <-Potsdam,26 caps Switz. <- Yzeure et Emilie Wallet (<- Clermont, goalkeeper 18 years).

OL : 7 fr/11, 9 fr/14, 10 fr/16 - PFC : 10 fr/11, 11 fr/14, 13 fr/16

A first high quality half time, with intensive and constant pressing in PFC area.

The ball moved quickly, a lot of activity of the players and high efficiency.

4 goals from the head by three different players (Ada 2), Wendie (1), Amandine (1) : specific work on training during the week has been beneficial.

Ada (11th) Wendie (20th) Amandine (34th) Ada (58th)

The 4th goal : What a treat ! Great pass from Wendie to Eugenie on the right side, then superb control of Eugenie and pass to Ada who scores.

Ada (36th)

That’s almost the same as the 3rd goal, but on the left side (Pass of Griedge to Amel and superb control by running on the left side).

SARAH expressed the performance of the team and of the supporters, who encouraged her during all the game.

This first game, as The Reference of the season, has been celebrated with a “AHOU”(Clapping) shared with the players.

J5 - Rodez - OL : 0 - 2 (SAKI Kumagaï, ) (attendance : 1156)

OL : 7 fr/11, 9 fr/14, 10 fr/16 - Rodez : 10 fr/11, 12 fr/13, 15 fr/16

2 players left Rodez, moving to Guingamp, Fanny Hoarau and Ekaterina Tyryshkina. Julie Perruzetto was injured end of last season against OL. Julie Niphon became goalkeepers coach.

3 new recruits played the match :

Laetitia Philippe Sarah Chalabi Kim Cazeau <- from Montpellier <- from Yzeure <- from Albi Others recruits : Suzy Morin (<- EAG), Léonie Fleury (<- Soyaux), Anaïs Bichon (<- U19 OL).

Less than one week after Press Conference, was in the team as basic player in order to rest some other players. This game was after UEFA Champions League and before International games.

She didn’t touch the ball a lot during 1st Half (Playing as a forward midfield); she had the opportunity to score, but her shot was too high. She touched more balls in 2nd Half in a lower position on the field.

Rodez, currently at the bottom of D1 ranking, survived a long time; defensive play was also helped by a grass too tall and a bumpy terrain.

Nevertheless, the team played well on the wings but missed the crosses.

SAKI, once again, essential in the team scored the first in the game.

Saki (39th) Delphine (51th) DELPHINE, scored the 2nd goal (after having a shot rebounded by Laetitia Philippe on the post).

SARAH had just only one save to do, but once again, she was decisive face to Kim Cazeau.

© OL ANG’ELLES 10

WENDIE played her 200th match in D1. She took the opportunity to wear pink armband and shoes to support the fight against breast cancer.

On the road… To Lille, Avaldsnes, Guingamp, Rodez

Season started very quickly during summer. Although some OL Ang’Elles were in Brittany to support U20 France Team (World Cup), other OL Ang’Elles were present in friendly matches.

In Chambery, Chassieu or Groupama Training Centre to support OL against GF38(Grenoble), Freiburg (Germany) and Sand (Germany).

For supporters who were in Brittany, after final of U20 (Won by Japan; France 4th), they went to Lille via Normandy Bridge.

LOSC Training Centre access is not adapted to D1 (female); but at that occasion we discovered Camphin en Pévèle village in Lille suburb.

Women’s Champions League started earlier in the season (due to World cup in June). OL Ang’Elles supporters were more in Norway than last year. Some of them in planes to Haugesund, others by the road from Oslo, and 3 others (already in Norway 2 years ago) welcomed by Norheim Family in Bryne (South of Haugesund).

At Bryne, County of Rogaland, the landscape with granitic rocks, wealth of North Sea petroleum.

Close to Ergesund city, many traces of the 2nd World War (May of 1940).

But Women’s football is never so far : We went to Bryne football grounds where Andrea started, to see her sister Martine to play with teenagers (15 years). As many young Norwegians, she has not yet chosen between handball and football.

Other supporters visited Bergen.

But all OL Ang’Elles were charmed by Norway and how they were welcomed, in particular by Andrea Norheim’s family.

Just after getting off the plane from Norway, on the way to Brittany and Guingamp.

We visited Binic village in the day, at low tide (Usually we went to Binic in the night).

Just before the match, we made a detour via Paimpaul (Boaters, fishers, beaches...).

Results… CHAMPIONS LEAGUE – Round of 32

Avaldsnes played with the same team (Home/Away) : Basic players and Substitute.

6 players already played 2 years ago at the same round : 3 were in the basic team : Andrea Rosa, Luana (Brazil) and Dahl (Norway); 2 substitutes Abrahamsen and Arnesen (Norway) and Pedersen (not in the Group).

Major players left the club as Mjelde (To Chelsea); and with just three rounds remaining, Avaldsnes has fallen to the bottom of the ranking (9th/12).

7 foreign players were in the basic team and another one as substitute.

Round of 32 / 1st leg – Avaldsnes – OL : 0 – 2 (AMANDINE Henry, AMEL Majri) (attendance :2319)

No clear opportunities in the match: a post hit (Head of Wendie at 16th minute), some saves of Johansen the goalkeeper (Eugenie 27th, Ada 72th). A goal rightly refused for offside (18th), a penalty refused (Amel pushed in penalty area).

Nevertheless, that was on a corner (shot by Selma) that AMANDINE scored the first goal with the head.

AMEL scored the 2nd goal on a pass of Eugenie.

Amel (77th)

Ada couldn’t score in Norway despite a lovely pass of Eugenie in the last minutes of the match.

At the end, players greeted the OL Ang’Elles supporters and Ada specifically thanked some young players coming from Sandness.

Round of 32 / 2nd leg – OL – Avaldsnes : 5 – 0 (AMEL Majri, EUGENIE Le Sommer x/2, ADA Hegerberg x/2) (attendance : 1214)

20th match in round of 32 in Champions League, 20th victory – 104 goals / 3 goals conceded.

LISA started for the 2nd time, and saved the score on the only one Norwegian occasion (ball deflected on the crossbar).

Selma, injured against PFC, was on the bench. CARO started the match. Otherwise, same team and same good match. The ball moved quickly, SAKI on the front line, AMANDINE with her power and moving forward and on the right wing, GRIEDGE and WENDIE at the top, with long and accurate passes.

Great ambiance in the Stands despite the restrictions of Stadium neighbours (Noisy problem). Many Norwegians schoolboys from Lyon were there to support both Avaldsnes and Ada.

Snapshots… Trainings open to the public.

During season 2017-2018, 25 open trainings to the public, about less one training a week (For men’s team there were about 2 or 3 open trainings a week); and often with an announcement coming very late each time (2 or 3 days before the date).

Despite unfavourable conditions, 50-70 spectators were there for the latest open training in 2017- 2018 (April the 12th). It corresponds roughly at half of average spectators in Montpellier. Even if there were less of supporters, it could be judicious to adapt safety devices.

Since beginning of new season, only 4 trainings were open (July 20th, August 22nd, September 16th, October 10th) with an open training just after Avaldsnes travel where supporters were not all back in Lyon, and another one w/o international players, but still interesting.

Keep in mind many occasional spectators decided to enter OL Ang’Elles association during those open trainings.

Even during the last open training, with only 5/6 players present, during International truce, 12 spectators were there (3 of them came here for the 1st time, and we could take some contacts with them).

Nevertheless, season started in a good atmosphere: Wendie organized a “Birthday drink” at the of the first open training, thanking all the supporters for their help.

On this occasion, the experienced players said they wished to have a good proximity with the supporters (not hesitating to run thousands of kilometres to support them). For them this is necessary to open the training in order to increase Women’s football audience.

© OL ANG’ELLES 15

Yet in ‘Kop OL’, the show of OL TV, Reynald Pedros said to agree with open trainings, except for some of them (Closed trainings before great matches).

We can also thank Hugues and Aurore for their investment and availability; they are an efficient link between OL and the supporters.

Unfortunately there are some blockages in other levels in OL organization which not help to improve access to trainings and closeness with the team. Safety problem and proximity of men’s team cannot justify that situation. The idea of a meeting between OL managers and supporters was put on an agenda for several weeks, but for the moment postponed ...until end of November ? Wait and see...

Award… FIFA

The Best FIFA Women’s Coach Reynald Pedros has been celebrated by OL Ang’Elles during the match OL – Avaldsnes in Decines.

Logic award by the fact he won both UEFA Champions League and D1 French League and also with less competition than last year where Gérard Prêcheur (with two consecutive triples) deserved better.

There was no justification to celebrate once again Sarina Wiegman (Nederland is not sure to access The World Cup, even they have an advantage in Playoff match against Switzerland end of November). Asako Takakura, Japan’s coach won the Asia Cup with Japan (against Australia) but the time has come to reward an OL coach after a third consecutive victory in Champions League.

The Best FIFA Women’s Player received award after 140 National team votes (Both captains and coaches), Sports journalists (141 countries), but also votes from people and fans on social networks. Each voter giving 5 points to the 1st, 3pts to the 2nd, and 1pt to the 3rd.Voting period: 24th July 2018 → 10 August 2018.

Some concern was expressed that was once again distinguished...and Marta once again won... MARTA 14 times nominated, 12 times in the top 3, 6 times elected Best player.

It would be excessive to say Marta it’s only a name, but we have the feeling nothing was justified to elect again Marta in front of Ada and Maro as if nothing had happened in the world of football for 10 years and only her name is known all around the world. Marta’s performances in Orlando and Brazil may not be headlines for a certain period..

Some comments about votes :

In Europe : - Ada is at the top mainly in networks. - Pernille got also a good ranking mainly among Coaches and Captains. - Lucy and Wendie are also distinguished, and votes are less favourable to Sam, Marta and Megan. In America : - Megan Rapinoe and Marta (Sam Kerr to a lesser degree) are more distinguished by Captains and Coaches, Megan is forgotten by Networks. - Ada is always preferred by Networks and is (with Maro) acclaimed by the fans. Maro is well positioned whatever the voters and the continents. - Pernille HARDER is the most overlooked in America (0 point for Captains voters). In total : - ADA is always in the top 3, in all continents, with domination in all the Networks. - MARO has always a good ranking whatever the voters. - Pernille, Sam, Marta and Megan are well positioned mainly in the continents where they play (It’s clear for Pernille out of Europe and for Sam out of Asia/Oceania & America).

Have a look on particular voters among 400 (Captains, Coaches and Networks); it can explain these comments.

Everyone has their own preferences and could be disappointed or surprised by the rankings, but at the end, the most important are the titles won by the team, and the positive result of the Award is the recognition of Women’s football through these rankings delivered by great Confederations (FIFA, UEFA) and which will result a new award “Le Ballon d’Or féminin” (Women Golden Ball) awarded for the 1st time in December.
