As a Debenture Holder, you will have the enviable opportunity of Derek Underwood being able to watch every ball bowled and every hit from the comfort and exclusivity of the Debenture areas at Lord’s. Starting the summer of international cricket oV, Lord’s will be hosting the first Test of a two-Test series against West Indies in May. The West Indies last toured England in 2007, when they went down 3-0 in a four-match Test Series. The second Test Match at Headingly will long be remembered for both the coldest Test conditions in England—a mere seven degrees on the morning of the fourth day, and the heaviest West Indies Test defeat (by an innings and 283 runs). England will then play host to the 1.c.c. World Twenty20 England 2009. In what promises to be a fascinating tournament, Lord’s will be hosting five match days, including the opening and closing ceremonies and the Final on Sunday 21st June. After a nail- biting final to the wonderfully successful inaugural competition in South Africa two years ago, when India defeated Pakistan by 5 runs, Debenture Holders can look forward to soaking up the fantastic atmosphere from some of the finest seats in the Ground. In July, the much-anticipated battle to regain the Ashes will resume, with Lord’s hosting the second Test Match of the series, starting on 16th July. Out of the thirty three Test Matches played between the two countries at Lord’s, the England team have just five victories, with Australia claiming fourteen. Indeed England have not managed to defeat the Australians in a Test Match at Lord’s since 1934, when Hedley Verity took 15 for 104 runs, including an incredible 14 wickets in one day. England won that [] match by an innings and 38 runs—it is surely time for a repeat ! [] To wrap the season up, Debenture Holders can look forward to the prospect of two One-Day Internationals against the Australians, on 6th and 12th September. All this, combined with the Friends Provident Trophy Final, three Middlesex fixtures in the Twenty20 Cup as well as a whole host of other Middlesex and m.c.c. fixtures, Debenture Holders can look forward to a thoroughly busy and enjoyable summer at the Home of Cricket.
