Let your students experience Geocaching – a free high-tech treasure hunt where you use your GPS receiver throughout the Outback to find caches hidden by other travellers. It’s a great way to be outdoors, enjoy the environment and revel in the thrill of the hunt!

Day 1 – Brisbane to Longreach

Journey: Brisbane to Longreach ...... approx. 1176km / 3¼ hour plane ride with Qantas Link Highlights: Flying over the beautiful Outback scenery on the way to Longreach Morning: Depart Brisbane domestic terminal on a Qantas Link flight leaving at 8.15am and arriving in Longreach at 11.30am. Your students will get a quick stopover at Blackall or Barcaldine on the way, where they will see how the airports in the Outback are different to those in the city! Afternoon: This afternoon, you could stop into the Kinnon & Co Station Store and check out the Cobb & Co Coach – you could even book your class in for a Gallop through the Scrub! Day 2 – Longreach to Winton

Journey: Longreach to Winton ...... approx 179km / 2 hours Winton to Dinosaur Stampede at Lark Quarry Conservation Park ....approx 110km / 1 ½ – 2 hours Dinosaur Stampede at Lark Quarry Conservation Park to Winton ....approx 110km / 1 ½ – 2 hours

Morning: This morning we will travel from Longreach to Winton before having lunch at the Coolibah Café at Waltzing Matilda Centre. This is where you will find your first Geocache treasure – 22° 23.430s 143° 02.399e. Afternoon: This afternoon we will travel to the Dinosaur Stampede at Lark Quarry Conservation Park – the world’s only recorded evidence of a dinosaur stampede with 3300 footprints uncovered, dating back 95 million years. Journey: Winton to Boulia ...... approx. 363km / 4 ½ hours Highlights: Boulia Min Min Encounter Finding your second Geocache treasure at the Middleton Hotel on the way to Boulia (22° 21.188s 141° 32.986e) Finding your third Geocache treasure at the Min Min Encounter (22° 54.623s 139° 29.771e) Morning: Rise and shine and head to Boulia – for mysterious lights, fossils, a house made out of stones and a station stay experience never to forget! Stop in at Middleton for your morning tea at the Hilton Hotel. Before you leave, head over to the Middleton Hotel where you will find your second Geocache treasure – 22° 21.188s 141° 32.986e Afternoon: Once you get to Boulia, spend the afternoon exploring the famous Min Min Encounter, where you will also find your third Geocache treasure – 22° 54.623s 139° 29.771e. If time permits, head over to the aquatic centre for a swim, or take your students to see the Stone House, where an extensive vertebrate and invertebrate fossil display is located. On the way, you will come across a Telstra Calling Tower, where you will find your fourth Geocache treasure –22° 57.255s 139° 29.771e Evening: Tonight you will camp at Tobermorey

Day 5 – Tobermorey to Macsland Station Stay

Journey: Tobermorey to Macsland Station ...... approx. 300km / 3 ½ hours Highlights: Macsland Station Today: Today you head to Macsland Station near Boulia where your students can experience life on the land. On the way, stop in at Georgina Water Hole, 2km South on the eastern side of Georgina River where your students can swim or fish. Then head onto Macsland Station where your students can spend some time exploring the station before setting up camp for the night. Journey: Macsland Station to Carisbrooke Station ...... approx. 340km / 4 ½ hours Highlights: Carisbrooke Station Finding your fourth Geocache treasure at Cawnpore Lookout (22° 38.309s 141° 09.919e-) Finding your fifth Geocache treasure (22° 13.070s 142° 12.467e) Morning: Depart Macsland Station and start today’s adventure as we head to Carisbrooke Station near Winton. Stop in and have morning tea at Cawnpore Lookout. Here your students will find their fourth Geocache Treasure –22° 38.309s 141° 09.919e. Cawnpore Lookout has spectacular views of the Outback – a moment your students will never forget. After your break at Cawnpore Lookout, head off to find your fifth Geocache Treasure 30km east of ‘Woodstock’ – Wallabies Revenge – John Hills Range – 22° 13.070s 142° 12.467e Afternoon: This afternoon, you will arrive at Carisbrooke Station near Winton. Charles and Penelope Phillott and their family invite you and your students to experience a fascinating part of Australia as their guests on Carisbrooke Station. A diverse and scenic grazing property in the heart of Outback Queensland, the spectacular scenery abounds with wildlife and natural vegetation and caters for all school groups. After your arrival, you and your students will go on a Sunset Tour, where they will learn all about the workings and history of this sheep and cattle station beginning with a tour of the shearing shed and commentary on the beef and wool industries and the stock management and shearing processes. You and your students will also; Visit the site of the forced landing of a B17 flying fortress during WW2 carrying Lyndon B Johnson. See Queensland’s first “Keyline” flood irrigation system.
