THE 1982 PEACE AND FREEDOM AWARD CELEBRATION PACEM IN TERRIS AWARD
The Pacem in Terris Peace and Freedom award is given by the Quad Cities Peace and Justice Coalition. First presented in 1964, the award commemorates Pope John XXIII's 1963 encyclical, Pacem in Terris (Peace on Earth). The encyclical called for an end to the arms race and a commitment to securing peace among nations. The Pacem in Terris award was given formerly by the Davenport Catholic Interracial Council, which was disbanded in 1976.
