Motorcycle Touring from Riders Rest

Tour No 2 - Outward Leg

Towns: , , Beaulieu-Sur-, Altilac, St Jene Lagineste, Rocamadour.

Regions : (Correze) Midi Pyrenees ( ) Duration: 87.6 Miles / 141 Kms

Attractions : Rocamadour, Rocamadour Ramparts, Beaulieu-Sur-Dordogne

Coffee Stops: Beaulieu-Sur-Dordogne is a spectacular place park in the square and wonder around the town. Lunch above Rocamadour.

Description : Starting on the D940 the going is easy, sweeping bends that switch from left to right, a great road to get your lines sorted out on, the bends just go on for ever. A bit of National Route from Tulle to can be fun too. The run from Argentat to Beaulieu takes you on the D12 along the river Dordogne so watch out for canoeists. Beaulieu is an ancient location as shown in its 8th century church, and a well deserved coffee. The road continues through some small towns up through hills with their many underground grottoes down to Roacamadour. Be careful when going down the hill and through the tunnel to Rocamadour as there is often oncoming traffic in the middle of the road... A good ride which suits all bike types.

Regions : Limousin (Correze) Midi Pyrenees ( Lot) Duration: 85.4 Miles / 137 Kms

Attractions : Rocamadour, Rocamadour Ramparts, Turenne Castle, Uzerche Eglise,

Coffee Stops: There are fewer cafes on the route from Rocamadour to Brive so if you see one open stop. Uzerche is , as you enter the Town turn left up into the Chateaux and park in the square (Cobbled road).

Description : The route out of Rocamadour is superb but hard work on something like the Triumph Rocket 3, going through Brive City, can be a pain but worth the effort as the road down off the N20 into the centre is nice. The D920 out of Brive all the way to Uzerche is a cracking, deserted, well maintained road which will have you grinning like a loon... and the D3 from Uzerche to Ridersrest is wide open twisties you can see through for miles. A good ride which suits all bike types. Tip : If you want to avoid Brive drop onto the A20 (not a toll road) for a couple of junctions and get off on the D920 to Donzenac to rejoin the route.
