SOUTH CAROLINA TRANSPORT POLICE WOMEN’S SHIRT SPECIFICATIONS – SHORT

1. Fabric Content: 55% Dacron /45% Tropical Weave conforming to the following specifications. Weight: 8 – 8.5 oz. Per linear yard. Construction: 60 ends per inch 50 picks per inch Tear Strength: Break strength 100 lbs. Warp x 80 lbs. Filling

2. Material & Color Raeford #571, Color Light Gray #585.

3. Style style front, form fitting, convertible with full-length tails and short . Two pleated breast with scalloped flaps. Shoulder . Full badge sling and nameplate reinforcement with round embroidered eyelets. Matching inside and banana band of high luster gray Poly Twill.

4. Collar Convertible collar shall be one piece and measure 2-7/8" long at points. Collar shall be made with fused-in Mylar stays. Stays shall be fused to under side of collar interlining. Collar interlining shall be gray stabilized Mello Press #285. Collar (top or underside) itself shall have no fusing of outer shell fabric to collar interlining. Stay shall be 2-1/2” long by 3/8” wide. Collar shall be topstitched 1/4" off the edge. Collar shall have a banana band of high luster gray Poly-Twill.

5. Front Shall be made with a sport shirt front having turn back facings of a minimum 3” at collar tapering to 3" at bottom of shirt opening. There shall be and horizontal buttonhole at the and 5 additional and corresponding vertical buttonholes down the front, starting 3- 1/4" down from the lapel button and balance of buttons spaced 3- 1/2" apart. Fronts shall be joined to the yoke so that both raw edges of the yoke are turned under, with the front sandwiched between, and then all three are stitched down with a 1/16” raised . Safety stitch joining unacceptable.

6. Shoulder Style and dimensions as specified herein. Asymmetrical shape topstitched ¼” off the edge, to be Straps set on yoke with leading conforming with front joining . Shall measure 2" at sleeve tapering to 1- 3/8" and set not more than ½” from folded collar. Cross-stitched approximately 2" from sleeve seam. Shoulder lined with #550 stabilized Mello Press. Creased and edge stitched construction unacceptable.

7. Badge Reinforcement Two-ply sling 1” wide of body goods centered over left and stitched to shoulder seam and flap setting stitch. Shall have two round embroidered eyelets approximately 1” from top of pocket flap spaced 1-½” apart and centered on sling.

8. Nameplate Two-ply sling 1” wide of body goods horizontally positioned behind the right front to be held in place with two round embroidered eyelets spaced 1-3/8” apart and centered 1” above the right pocket flap.

9. Pockets Two breast pockets with 1-1/4” stitched and mitered corners at bottom. Pocket shall measure 5" wide by 5" deep. Both breast pockets to have 1-1/4” pencil stitch. Button sewn onto pocket to align with vertical buttonhole on flap.

10. Flaps Deep scalloped design to measure 5-1/4” across and 2-1/4” in depth at center point, and 1-3/4” at sides. Topstitched ¼” off the edge. Secured to shirtfront approximately ¼” above pocket. Both flaps to have invisible pencil opening

1-1/4" to correspond with pencil slot of pocket. Stop and start stitch unacceptable. Both flaps shall be interlined with #550 stabilized gray Mello Press. Creased and edge stitched pocket flap

construction unacceptable. Each side point of flaps shall be tacked to shirt front.

11. Sleeves Sleeves shall be straight and whole. Each sleeve shall have ¾” sleeve to finish according to size corresponding with finished dimensions listed below.

12. Buttons First grade 19-ligne pearlescent to match.

13. Stitching Shall be ¼” Double Needle stitching at sleeve insertion and side closing seams through sleeves, and across back yoke. All other topstitching is ¼” off the edge unless otherwise specified. 14. All threads shall be fast color polyester core polyester wrap to match shirt material color.

15. Interlining Collars, pocket flaps and shoulder straps shall be interlined with 100% stabilized Mello Press.

16. Construction Collars, flaps and shoulder straps are made by the conventional construction. Top ply, bottom ply and interlining are first stitched together, then turned right side out and finally topstitched. 17. Shoulder Patches South Carolina Transport Police shoulder patch must be sewn on each shirt, both left and right sleeve. To be positioned ¼” below shoulder seam. Shoulder patches will be furnished by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

18. Country of Manufacture All raw materials and assembly thereof made in the U.S.A.

19. Packing All shirts shall be thoroughly pressed in conformance with good trade practice on better quality & shirts. Each shirt shall be folded, secured in position and individually poly bagged. Stainless Marking steel shall be used on all shirts at the neck button along with cardboard reinforcement around shirt collar to maintain shape. Two shirts shall be packed to each box on both long and short sleeves. All shirts in any one-shirt box must be the same size with the size clearly marked on the outside of the box. The identity of the contents must also be marked on the outside of the box, such as “Women’s S/S Transport Police.” Shipping container (sturdy cartons) must not have any mixed sizes and the size of the shirts contained in each carton and identity (“Women’s S/S Transport Police) must also appear on the outside of the carton. Each individual shirt and shirt box should be labeled with an industrial style UPC code.

20. Special A special tag must be sewn in collar stamped with permanent ink, “DRY CLEAN ONLY.” Tag in Shirt must also have a permanent ink tag indicating shirt size at collar. Collar
