Sean accepted a Commission as a Marine Corps Officer, and while on Active Duty with the Marines, was one of ten Marine Officers selected to attend Law 2017-18 Board of School under the Funded Law Education Program. He earned his Juris Doctorate degree Directors & Sep 3 from the University of Illinois College of Law in 1989, and in 1993 earned a Master of Lunch Meeting Laws degree from The Judge Advocate General’s School of the Army at the University of Virginia. Prior to joining Shoe Carnival in 1999, Sean worked as a senior litigation associate at law Scholarship News 6 firms in Evansville, Indiana, with a focus on business, employment, and labor law. He is admitted to practice in courts in Indiana, Illinois, and the U.S. Supreme Court. Sean is a USI Scholarship 7 frequent speaker on leadership, employment law, and human resources issues, and serves Donation Form on numerous non-profit boards in the local community.

President’s Message Planning is underway for another exciting year! Our Chapter will be offering a variety of professional development programs to enhance your skills, satisfy CPE requirements, and advance your career. These offerings will include the Monthly Luncheons, Company Tour, 4th Thursday CPE and All Day CPE Events. We will also be planning fu- ture IMA Member Social and Community Service Events so be sure to check our calendar section within this newsletter and future news- letters so you can save the dates.

Within each newsletter we will begin featuring local non-profit organ- izations. Please read our Community Corner on page 6 to learn about Aurora and how we can support them this month. On page 6 you might also notice our fundraising efforts for USI and UE. We are close to fully funding both scholarships so we will be pushing hard in the next year to raise as much as we can. If you have any fundraising ideas or if you have a local non-profit organization that you would like us to highlight, please let us know.

Our next luncheon will be held on Tuesday, August 8th at United Companies with the presenta- tion by Sean Georges, Senior Vice President of HR & In-House Council at Shoe Carnival, on the topic of Ethics.

We had our first Planning Meeting for the 2017-2018 year on July 22th. Our next planning meeting is scheduled for August 17th at George Koch Sons/Koch Enterprises. All members are welcome to attend. Please let us know if you have any suggestions or ideas on how we can better serve you.

Prior to that and since March 31, 2000, she served as senior vice president, CFO and vice president, controller and assistant treasurer of Vectren. Vectren Corporation (NYSE: VVC) is an energy holding company headquartered in Evansville, Ind. Vectren’s energy delivery subsidiaries provide gas and/or electricity to more than 1 million customers in adjoining service territories that cover nearly two-thirds of Indiana and west central Ohio. Prior to joining Vectren, Hardwick’s most recent experience was with Cinergy Corporation, in numerous financial roles, including assistant corporate controller. Hardwick as extensive public accounting experience and has spent the majority of her career involved in the regulated utility industry. Hardwick received a B.S. in accounting from Indiana University and is a certified public accountant. She currently serves on the Board of St. Mary’s Medical Center and the joint audit committee of St. Mary’s/St. Vincent’s Health. She also serves on the Boards of Fifth Third Bank (Southern Indiana), the Evansville Museum of Arts, History and Science (past president) and the Accounting Circle of the University of Southern Indiana. In July 2012, she was appointed by Governor Daniels as a Commissioner of the Indiana Arts Commission. She has also served as President of the Board of the Evansville Celebration of Diversity Distinguished Lecture Series, as Treasurer of the Richard G. Lugar Excellence in Public Service Series,and as Treasurer of Gilda’s Club of Evansville. She was awarded the Athena Award in 2009 by the Chamber of Commerce of ; the Maverick Award by the Midwest Energy Association in 2011; the Sara B. Davies Award by Leadership Evansville in 2016; named one of 158 Women to Watch by the Diversity Journal in 2016 and received the Torchbearer Lifetime Achievement Award from the Indiana Commission on Women in 2016 and was named IBJ CFO of the Year Honoree in 2016. She has held numerous leadership roles in the American Gas Association and the Edison Electric Institute. Hardwick, an Indiana native, resides in Newburgh, Indiana.

This month the IMA will collect items for Aurora. Aurora was the 2016 Nonprofit of the year. Aurora’s mission is: Creating solutions to prevent and striving to end homelessness in our community. The have immediate needs for: Non-perishable Food (Canned food, snack items), Bottled Water, $5 McDonalds or Walmart gift cards, Bus tokens, Adult Socks and Underwear, Cleaning Supplies, and 18-20 Gallon Storage Totes.
