Bank One becomes preferred financial provider to University of athletics

Ann Arbor, Mich. (Aug. 30, 1999) - Beginning Sept. 1, the will have a new fan cheering from its sidelines: BANK ONE. The company today announced it has signed a three-year, exclusive agreement with the to be the preferred financial provider for university athletics.

Under the agreement, the Bank One logo will be prominently displayed at University of Michigan athletic facilities, except at , which does not have corporate advertising. Bank One will also receive commercial exposure on Michigan television and radio sports shows and at www.mgoblue.com, the athletic department's website. Print ads will appear in programs for football, men's and women's , and hockey matches.

"This partnership with the University of Michigan will support the university's student-athletes and help increase awareness of the Bank One brand."

"Bank One has a long tradition of supporting communities through partnerships with leading athletic teams," said Nancy Lawler, director of sports marketing, Bank One. "We are excited about signing our first sponsorship with the University of Michigan athletic department."

As part of the exclusive agreement, Bank One will introduce Wolverine(TM) Checking, a checking account any Wolverine fan will want. Customers who sign up for this program may choose a specially designed checkbook with four distinct Wolverine check designs.

The checks feature:

· Various Michigan championship rings

· An action photo of the Wolverines

· The Wolverines entering Michigan Stadium before kickoff

· A panoramic view of Michigan Stadium

To celebrate this partnership, Bank One is offering a three-month fee waiver for new Wolverine Checking accounts opened in September, October and November.
