COUNCILLOR RICK BABEROWSKI LIVING IN DIVISION AUTUMN/WINTER 2018 1

Parks for play

As we move into the cooler months I’d like to remind you of the fantastic variety of council parks, amenities and open space within Division 1.

We have steadily developed a vast variety of parks catering to family fun, youth hangouts, fitness amenities, inclusive all-abilities playgrounds and environmental experiences. More for our newest District Park These family friendly spaces are close to the local townships The good news for local families and visitors exploring the hinterland is which also have their own that even more is planned for District Park. unique qualities to discover. BEERWAH

A new playspace is planned for Turner Park to keep pace with Beerwah’s growing population. Concept plans have been developed and the community will soon be asked for comment before the design is finalised. The new playspace, recent work on the park entry and refurbishments to Beerwah District Library are adding value to Beerwah’s community.

BELLVISTA / LITTLE MOUNTAIN

Keep fit close to home. Tone up on new exercise equipment at Canavan Gracie Recreation Park, or walk the lovely lake circuit and beyond to Little Mountain Common, where your best friend can romp in the dog off-leash area. At nearby Bells Reach, you’ll find four exciting parks for kids and teens, Edge Park featuring in-ground trampolines and a basketball half-court.

LANDSBOROUGH

Hop into Skippy Park, Landsborough’s sport and recreation area. The exciting hill slide and natural playground are family favourites and the track is a winner for cycling, fitness and athletics. Nearby, Pioneer Park caters for all abilities. Share a book with your little ones at the new story seat, immerse yourself in the scented garden or refurbished playspace.

BARINGA / PALMVIEW

As part of Aura, Baringa has Pedal Park which offers a unique cycling track for little learners, climbing and family fun. Baringa will soon have an exciting youth space and community centre. Open space also features strongly at Harmony, Palmview. One hundred hectares of parklands will be connected by forest hikes, bike paths and walking trails that will link local neighbourhoods.

KAWANA FOREST

Besides a great range of local parks, Kawana Forest Reserve Trail is a nature-lovers paradise. The short trail starts opposite Tulipwood Court then loops into paperbark and eucalypt forest before rejoining the pavement at Lillypilly Court. Many species of birds, Piccabeen and Cabbage palms can be seen along the walk, which extends to Kawana Wetlands.
