ALTERNATIVE ENERGY SOURCES Humenné partially uses renewable sources to produce electricity and heat in the form of solar collectors and photovoltaics, especially in family houses. At present, a biogas plant and two photovoltaic power plants are in operation. So far the only documented source of thermal water is the MLS – 1 well, which was carried out in 1975 in Podskalka, belonging to the cadastral area of Ptičie. The well was drilled at a depth of 908 – 928 m, with a collector temperature of 33 °C and total mineralization of 830 mg/l. TELECOMMUNICATIONS The telephone network in the city and the district of Humenné is digitized, with excellent coverage of the mobile signal by mobile operators in the city, T-Com, T-Mobile, Orange, and O2 Slovakia. It is also possible to use alternative service providers. Humenné is included in the regional area 057 – Humenné, the whole territory of the city is covered by a signals for mobile communication devices in the NMT 450 MHz, GSM 900 MHz and GSM 1800 MHz networks. All urban areas are covered by the signal of mobile operators. Optical and Wi-Fi networks have been built by Orange, Slovak Telekom, and Antik. Internet connectivity is also provided by Slovanet, SATLAN, Minet, as well as the SANET data network for the provision of additional telecommunication and information services, especially for the academic sphere, i.e. the scientific, research, university and educational spheres.

Humenné is located in an astonishing valley surrounded by beautiful forests on either side. The region around Humenné offers many opportunities for summer and winter tourism, cycling, as well as opportunities for shorter and longer walks around. The highest altitudes include Sokol (405 MASL), Petočová (378 MASL) and Barančov (364 MASL). RENAISSANCE MANOR HOUSE
The manor house in Humenné is a national cultural monument and the seat of Vihorlat Museum. The building was and still remains the dominant feature of the city. It’s one of the largest and most spacious mansion style buildings in Slovakia. In the past, the mansion was the seat of the Drugetov dynasty, later belonging to the noble Andrássy family (1812).
