Kapil Chadda Vice Chairman Global Banking, MENAT, Dubai

 Kapil has been with HSBC for over 13 years and is an Investment Banker with extensive experience in building and fixing business and leading teams whilst executing M&A, Equity and Debt transactions over the last 23 years  He is a Vice Chairman in the Global Banking business currently, acting as a principal rainmaker and a senior coverage banker focusing on Institutional clients, Governments, Financial Sponsors and Sovereign Wealth Funds in the Middle East, Africa and Turkey region.  He currently acts as a focal point for the Banks strategy and focus on the whilst also leading the oversight of the Saudi coverage desk at HSBC. In addition he is currently also acting as the champion for the focus on connecting HSBC China to the Middle East as part of the firms focus on the Belt and Road initiative.  In his previous role, he led the Financial Institutions and Public Sector coverage team across Corporate, Transactional and Business for HSBC in Middle East, Africa and Turkey over the last 7 years. In addition he had oversight of HSBC Group's wholesale activities in and Morocco.  Over the years, Kapil has maintained relationships with key decision makers in the FIG and Public sector space in MENA, particularly across the GCC and Egypt  Prior to heading the regional FIG and Public Sector business, Kapil led HSBC’s corporate and investment banking business in Qatar where he was based for 5 years  Kapil is also the lead adviser to the HSBC Group on its divestments in the region: key transactions he has advised on are: – Advising KFH and AUB in relation to their merger – Advised Warba Bank on the attempted acquisition of Global Investment House (terminated) – Advising a leading North African bank on a sizeable acquisition in North Africa – Recent sale of HSBC Group’s operations in Lebanon, Pakistan, Jordan and Iraq – Advising on a Merger in the Financial Institutions space in the region (on-going) – Advising Banque du Caire on its IPO in Egypt (on-going) – Advised HSBC Holdings plc on the sale of a minority stake (32.5%) in SABB Takaful to Saudi British Bank (2017) – Advising Saudi on its contemplated IPO – Advising a Kuwaiti bank on a capital relief transaction and RWA optimization trade – Advising Capital Market Authority on the Privatization IPO of the Kuwait Stock Exchange – IPO of National Commercial Bank, Saudi Arabia for USD6bn – Leading international bank on the proposed acquisition of Citi’s consumer business in Egypt – Merger of Qatar Navigation and Qatar Shipping, 2010, M&A sell side advisor to Doha Marine Services sale to Topaz Energy – Advising on the IPO of Vodafone Qatar, Industries Qatar, Gulf International Services, Qatar (2005-2010)  Kapil has personally led M&A and ECM transactions across the EMEA Emerging Markets in excess of $100bn and DCM / Loans and Project Finance transactions in excess of $200bn over the last 20 years  Prior to joining HSBC, he worked at Bank of America for 9 years with a focus on Technology and Healthcare M&A and ECM for 4 years and CEEMEA client coverage across Corporate, Public Sector and FIG clients. He trained as a Chartered Accountant after obtaining his BSc in Economics from the London School of Economics and his MSc in Finance from Cass Business School in London
