1.1 Will the existing landuse get significantly altered from the project that is not consistent with the Surroundings? The proposed “Yamuna Vihar Housing Scheme” is located at Yamuna vihar, Chak Babura, Alimabad Allahabad (U.P.)

The existing land use will not get altered from the project as the current land use of the project area is Residential as per the ADA Master Plan,2021 and the site has been approved by Allahabad Development Authority. The proposed development will be as per the approval ofthe local authority and building bye-laws. Site is open land and does not involve activities of any type. It is anticipated that the construction activities of the proposed project would not have any adverse effect on the land use. The development of the green belt and other landscape would enhance the visual aesthetics of the area.  Location of the proposed project is shown in Figure 1.  Master Plan of Allahabad Development Authority, 2021 is enclosed as Annexure-II  Approved layout plan is enclosed as Annexure-I I. For surrounding features of the proposed site (within 500 m& 10 km), refer Annexure III a & III b.

1.3 What are the likely impacts of the proposed activity on the existing facilities adjacent to the proposed site? (Such as open spaces, community facilities details of the existing landuse disturbance to the local ecology).

There will not be any significant impacts from the proposed activity on the existing facilities adjacent to the proposed site, as the Allahabad Development Authority is developing all the facilities such as connectivity, roads, open space, drainage, sewer and water supply etc.keeping in view the land use as per Master Plan. Anticipated Negative Impacts: All construction activities will be confined within the project area. There will be no physical changes outside the project boundary. Development and Construction of

proposed project will be done as per applicable norms/byelaws. The surrounding area has already been developed, which includes ADA colony, a qubristan (grave yard), several other industrial and housing projects. Most of the construction activities will be confined inside the project boundary area. Hence, negative impacts on adjacent existing facilities would be minimal, if any. Anticipated Positive Impacts: There will not be any disturbance to the local ecology as the selected site for the construction is a vacant land with predefined land use as per ADA Master Plan 2021. Moreover, landscaping with local plant species in post construction phase will restore the existing ecological condition in near future. So there will be no permanent adverse impact on existing ecological conditions due to proposed project. About 3883 m2 area will be developed as soft green and plantation area and will have positive impact on the surroundings. Proposed project will require manpower during construction and operation phase thereby creating job opportunities and improving the socio-economic conditions of the area. No rare or endangered species of fauna are reported to exist in the area. Care will be taken to minimize the disturbance to the local ecology.

1.4 Will there be any significant land disturbance resulting in erosion, subsidence & instability? (Details of soil type, slope analysis, vulnerability to subsidence, seismicity etc may be given). There will be some land disturbance due to the upcoming project as the project will involve grass/ shrub clearing, grading and construction of impervious surfaces. Following mitigation measures will be used to mitigate the same: . Construction planning will be done to minimize exposed soil during times of the year when the potential for erosion is high, for example during rains. . Site will be stabilized and erosion control measures will be adopted during any pause in construction. . Suppression measures, such as prompt watering exposed area will be taken in account when visible dust is observed. . Stockpiles will be located with the slope notgreaterthan3:1 (horizontal to vertical). . Size and number of stockpiles will be kept minimum and will be located away from drainage line. Soil Type:  Type of soil: Sandy Loam  There will be no land disturbance resulting in erosion, subsidence or instability. The area is fairly plain and subsoil strata are alluviums deposited by water courses, geologically the litho log sections show dominant of sand percentage.

Drainage: The rivers of the district belong to the main system of the Ganga and comprise several sub-systems of which the most important are the Yamuna and the Tons, other including the minor systems of the Varuna and Sai. The master slope of Trans Ganga is towards east or south east, with the altitude ranging from 89.30 msl-93.57 msl. Rivers of the district namely Yamuna,Tons, Sai and Varuna belongs to main drainage system of the Ganga. Dendritic drainage pattern is the most common features Page 8

Erosion / Subsidence: . Project will provide ample green space. Therefore, it will not cause any soil erosion, subsidence or instability problems.

Seismicity: According to the Indian Standard Seismic Zoning Map, the area under study falls in Zone-III (refer Figure 6). Suitable seismic coefficients in horizontal and vertical directions will be adopted while designing the structures.

1.5 Will the proposal involve alteration of natural drainage systems? (Give details on a contour map showing the natural drainage near the proposed project site).

The area is fairly plain and ADA has constructed system of drains. As per the contour map elevation level of proposed site is 98 m amsl and natural drainage is towards Yamuna River, north of the project site. The project development will not impact any natural drainage pattern in the vicinity. Therefore, there will be no alteration of natural Drainage System, except the runoff from the site will increase during rains due to increase in paved area. The runoff generated from roof top area will be used for ground water recharging through rain water harvesting system, whereas the runoff from green area will percolate naturally and from paved areas will be collected and discharged into municipal storm water drains. 1.6 What are the quantities of earthwork involved in the construction activity cutting, filling, reclamation etc. (Give details of the quantities of earthwork involved, transport of fill materials from outside the site etc).

It is estimated that approximately 38658.39 m3 of earth material will be excavated during initial construction phase for foundations & basement. The top soil excavated during construction will be first temporarily stored in earmarked area. Almost all the soil will be reutilized into backfilling, leveling and filling of low lying area for development of landscape.

(Provide details of how low lying and wetlands are getting modified from the proposed activity).

Site is fairly plain and average elevation is 98 m (322 ft.) above mean sea level. The rivers of the district belong to the main system of the Ganga and comprise several sub-systems of which the most important are the Yamuna other including the minor systems of the Varuna and Sai. 1.9Whether construction debris & waste during construction cause health hazard? (Give quantities of various types of wastes generated during construction including the construction labour and the means of disposal)

Wastes which will be generated during the construction phase include the following:  Excavated materials from earthworks (e.g. cuttings, basement excavation, foundation etc.),  General construction waste (e.g. wood, packing material, scrap metal, concrete and empty cement bags);

 Hazardous wastes generated by general site practices and paint and thinner residues, etc.  Municipal wastes generated by site workers. Most of the construction waste will be reused in road construction and surplus will be sold to recyclers.

Excavated Materials from Earthworks

It is estimated that approx. 32000 m3of earth material will be excavated during initial construction for foundations & basement etc. Maximum percentage of excavated material will be re-used within premises for different purposes. The excess earth would only be the construction wastes and will not cause any health hazards.

Municipal Waste & Other waste

Municipal wastes comprise kitchen wastes, packaging and waste paper. Generation rate of solid waste from labour colony will vary from place to place due to habits and living condition. Approximately 0.25Kg/capita/day of municipal waste may be expected during construction phase. The domestic waste water generated from construction camps shall be disposed-off through septic tank / soak pit or mobile toilets with STP/ municipal sewer.

Some amount of debris, cuttings and construction materials may be observed at construction site. Details of construction waste are discussed in Table 6. However the quantity of their waste materials would be very small and limited up to the construction site only. Contamination by these wastes would be negligible and would be collected time to time during construction phase and disposed off accordingly. The Impact on soil during construction phase will be marginal and reversible in nature.

2.0 WATER ENVIRONMENT

2.1 Give the total quantity of water requirement for the proposed project with the breakup of requirements for various uses. How will the water requirement met? State the sources & quantities and furnish a water balance statement.

Water Requirement, Source and Water Balance

A provision of 86 lpcd (liters per capita per day), 45 lpcd & 15 lpcd for water requirements shall be made for residents, staff & visitors respectively. This is in accordance with the MoEF‟s Construction Manual &Manual of Water Supply, Central Public Health and Environmental Engineering Organization (CPHEEO), Ministry of Housing, Government of India (GOI), hence the total water requirements shall be:

2.2 What is the capacity (dependable flow or yield) of the proposed source of water?

The proposed source of water is: 1. Ground water through Bore well

Ground Water: The ground water in the widely covered Vindhyan Plateau region is primarily under unconfined condition. Exploratory data indicates that kaimur sandstones found at depths do have enough potentiality at favorable locations. These sandstones after leaching of cementing materials get disintegrated and reduced to silica sands which are loose and act as promising repository of ground water. The lithological characteristics of bore holes have clearly indicated the presence of loose silica sand. Water extraction source (capacity of ground water source):

Overall Status of Water Supply: The total length of distribution pipeline is 1055 Km. There are three zonal service reservoirs which is located at Daraganj, Bhardwaj Ashram and Mayo Hall having capacity of 1.8 ML, 1.35 ML and 2.7 ML respectively. In addition to these three service reservoirs, there are 34 Over Head Tanks(OHTs) which store the water before supply. Unaccounted flow of water is about 30% of total watersupply. (Source: U.P. Hydrogeological Set-up: Exploratory drilling data of CGWB and state tubewell department show that there are three distinct granular zones i) shallow aquifers ranging from 20 to 50 mbgl ii) middle aquifer ranging from 70 to 120 mbgl and deeper aquifer lies below 150 down to depth 300 mbgl. The extension of individual zones is variable over the district.

Depth to Water Level: Ground water is mainly controlled by drainage, topography and lithological behavior; it occurs underground water condition at shallow depths and under confined condition at deeper depths. Depth to water in pre monsoon ranges between 3.0 to 15.0 mbgl and average water level is 6.0 to 7.0 mbgl in Trans Ganga area. Post monsoon water level varies between 1.45 to 13.00 mbgl in Trans Ganga area. Water level varies 5.00 to 6.00 mbgl in Trans Yamuna area.

2.3 What is the quality of water required, in case, the supply is not from a municipal source? (Provide physical, chemical, biological characteristics with class of water quality).

The water demand for the project will be fulfilled by the ground water. The quality of water found drinkable as per IS: 10500 norms. Although, WTP will be installed on site for treatment of drinking water.

2.4 How much of the water requirement can be met from the recycling of treated wastewater? (Give the details of quantities, sources and usage).

No Provision has been made for the recycling of wastewater. Fresh water will be used for domestic and other household activities i.e. Flushing, and Horticulture etc.Details of water usages are as follows:

2.5 Will there be diversion of water from other users? (Please assess the impacts of the project on other existing uses and quantities of consumption).

The fresh water requirement for the project will be fulfilled through ground water. There are several other projects in the vicinity which depends on the same water supply source. As the project is development of group housing, water demand will be confined up to domestic uses. No significant impact on the ground water source is envisaged due to proposed project and projects in the nearby region.

2.6 What is the incremental pollution load from wastewater generated from the proposed activity? (Give details of the quantities and composition of wastewater generated from the proposed activity). 465KLD will be the total waste water generated, which will be discharged directly in to the municipal sewer. 517 KLD of fresh water will be used in household activities, i.e. Flushing, bathing and Drinking and 19 KLD of fresh water will be used in Horticulture purpose (in non- monsoon). 2.7 Give details of the water requirements met from water harvesting? Furnish details of the facilities created.

Rain water harvesting pits have been proposed for augmentation of ground water. The rainwater collected from the rooftop will be conveyed into the rainwater harvesting system consisting of Desilting-cum-filter chamber and bore wells for recharge into the ground water. The rain water collected from Paved and Green area will percolate naturally in to ground. No demand will be met from the process. Analysis of the observed data on intensity duration of rainfall of past records over a period of years in the area is necessary to arrive at a fair estimate of intensity-duration for given frequencies. The longer the record available, the more dependable is the forecast. In Indian conditions, intensity of rainfall adopted in design is usually in the range of 15 mm/hr to 40 mm/hr. The intensity of precipitation for design of drainage scheme has been taken 40 mm/hr for the project

2.8 What would be the impact of the land use changes occurring due to the proposed project on the runoff characteristics (quantitative as well as qualitative) of the area in the post construction phase on a long-term basis? Would it aggravate the problems of flooding or water logging in any way?

Since this is a construction of group housing project, the paved area will increase thus the land surface will change thereby increasing the runoff during rains. Maximum storm rainfall of 40 mm has been assumed on the past experience. No adverse impacts are envisaged due to proposed project on the runoff characteristics of the area as adequate arrangements have been made to trap the rainwater and suitable storm water drainage system has been provided.

There will be change in the surface run off coefficient in the preconstruction phase and post construction phase. The surface run off will be captured and used for harvesting so that the ground water level is consistent. The storm water drains will be cleaned in the pre-monsoon phase so that the water logging will be avoided.

During the post-construction phase, runoff from the project shall not be allowed to stand and create water logging or enter into the road side or nearby drain. Adequate measures shall be taken to collect such run off and either shall be reused or stored in recharging pits. Suitable garlanding drain as per the existing contours of the plot will be developed. There is no landscape change planned. The project will not aggravate the problems of flooding or water logging in any way, as the topography is plain.

2.9 What are the impacts of the proposal on the ground water? (Will there be tapping of ground water; give the details of ground water table, recharging capacity, and approvals obtained from competent authority, if any).

Fresh water supply will be ensured through ground water. The groundwater will be augmented through proposed rainwater harvesting. The rain water collected from Roof top will be sent for ground water recharge through 3 nos. of RWH pits. 254 m3/hr of water is available for ground water recharge which will be recharged through RWH pits. A major part of the area is under green or open land which will percolate naturally and augment the ground water. Therefore, most of the rain water will be directly infiltrated through these open/green areas. Hence no adverse impacts are envisaged due to the project on the ground water quality and the level. Maximum recharging of the underground aquifer will be done.

2.10 What precautions/measures are taken to prevent the run-off from construction activities polluting land & aquifers? (Give details of quantities and the measures taken to avoid the adverse impacts).

Effective measures will be adapted to reduce the storm water run-off from the construction site-  Ensuring vehicles stick to the access track.  Cleaning all mud and dirt deposited on roads from construction-related activities.  Excavation work will not be carried out during monsoon season.  Constructing a fence around the site to trap sediment whilst allowing water to flow through.  Diverting up-slope water with turf and not mixing mortar in locations that will drain into storm water system.  Preventing wastewater from brick cutting activities and stockpiles entering the storm water system.  Construction material will be stored in temporary shed at the earmarked place and will be covered ensuring that no leachate or spoilage of land occurs.  Curing water will be sprayed and, after liberal curing, all concrete structures will be painted with curing compound & covered with gunny bags, then the water will be sprayed.  Plantation of trees will start from construction phase.  No runoff will be disposed outside the project boundary.

2.11 How is the storm water from within the site managed? (State the provisions made to avoid flooding of the area, details of the drainage facilities provided along with a site layout indication contour levels).

Since the existing topography is congenial to surface disposal, a network of storm water pipe drains has been planned adjacent to roads. All building roof water will be brought down through drain water pipes. The drain sizes and sections will be designed in such a way that they can take the load of the peak rainfall period. Proposed storm water system consists of pipe drains, catch basins and seepage pits at regular intervals for rain water harvestings and ground water recharging. All the surface drains will be covered by gratings and proper land gradient will be provided so that water logging inside the site does not occur. Collected rain water will be used to recharge ground water through rain water structure. The storm rainfall of 40 mm/hr. has been considered for designing the storm water drainage system. A detailed storm water management plan will be developed which considers the source of storm water. The plan incorporates the best management practices which include the following:  Regular inspection and cleaning of storm water drains.  Cover waste storage area.  Avoid excavation during monsoon season.

2.12 Will the deployment of construction labourers particularly in the peak period lead to unsanitary conditions around the project site (Justify with proper explanation).

The workers from nearby localities and villages will be employed during construction. Worker camps are proposed at site for suitable accommodation. There will be no stagnation of water or waste water at site, as the run-off from the relevant areas will be systematically drained. The civil contractor will be made responsible for site sanitation and will be bound by the management to adhere to healthy level of sanitation. Temporary septic-tank followed by soak-pit will be constructed for effluent treatment. All sanitary and hygienic measures will be provided and maintained throughout the construction phase such as: • Provision of separate toilets for the construction workers.

2.13 What on-site facilities are provided for the collection, treatment & safe disposal of sewage? (Give details of the quantities of wastewater generation, treatment capacities with technology & facilities for recycling and disposal).

During the construction phase, on-site sanitation facilities will be provided (Septic tanks and soak pits). No Onsite Sewage Treatment Facilities are proposed for the operational phase of project, the waste water generated from residential project/ group housing (i.e.465 KLD) will be directly discharged in to the municipal sewer for further treatment through CSTP.

2.14 Give details of dual plumbing system, if treated waste is used for flushing of toilets or any other use.

No provision has been made for Dual Plumbing in the proposed construction of group housing project for utilization of water for flushing in toilets or horticulture purposes.

3.0 VEGETATION 3.1 Is there any threat of the project to the biodiversity? (Give a description of the local ecosystem with its unique features, if any).

No, the project will not pose any threat to the biodiversity of the locality. The land use of proposed project is Residential as per Allahabad Master Plan, 2021. As the project site do not contain any water body, therefore, no scope of disturbance to the aquatic flora will be involved. Moreover, quite a number of trees will be planted. The species will be predominantly native in nature so that they merge with the local ecosystem. Flora and fauna of the study area is mentioned in section 3 of conceptual plan. All the waste (liquid/solid/gases) will be managed onsite as per Rules. The impact due to proposed project will be minimal.

3.2 Will the construction involve extensive clearing or modification of vegetation? (Provide a detailed account of the trees & vegetation affected by the project).

There are no significant vegetation, except some ground cover within the site thus no extensive clearance or modification of vegetation.

3.3 What are the measures proposed to be taken to minimize the likely impacts on important site features? (Give details of proposal for tree plantation, landscaping, creation of water bodies etc along with a layout plan to an appropriate scale).

Due care will be taken to protect the important site features:  Tree plantation will be done to protect the site features such as topsoil erosion, ground water attenuation and avoiding contamination by leachate.  The excavated soil will be stored at earmarked places protected from contamination and from polluting the existing features and will be used for surface leveling and for creation of landscaped areas.

Adequate measures will be taken to minimize the likely impacts of the proposed project on the surrounding as well as the project site itself and documented in the Environmental Management Plan. General principles in greenbelt design considered for this study area:  Type of pollution likely air, noise, and water and land pollution generated from the activities at the site.  Agro-climatic zone and sub-zone where the greenbelt is located  Water quantity and quality available in the area  Soil quality in the area.

Total green area proposed for project is 14080.0 m2 (15% of plot area). A combination of evergreen and ornamental flowering trees, palms, shrubs and ground covers will be planted along the sides of the roads and in open spaces & setback area within the complex.

Landscaping is an important element in altering the microclimate of a place. Proper landscaping reduces direct sun from striking the buildings and heating up building Surfaces, prevents reflected light carrying heat into a building from the ground or surfaces, creates different airflow patterns and can be used to direct or divert the wind advantageously by causing a pressure difference. Shade created by trees and the effects of grass and shrubs reduce air temperature adjoining the building and provide evaporative cooling. A study shows that the ambient air under a tree is 20C to 2.50C lower than that for adjacent un-shaded areas.

Ornamental trees with spreading branches, shade giving with colorful flowers for people to relax and suitable patches of lawns, rockery with cactus and other small flowering xerophytic plants shall be planted.

The plants should exhibit the following desirable characteristic in order to be selected for plantation. a. Trees with colonial canopy with attractive flowering. b. Trees with branching at 10 feet and above. c. Trees with medium spreading branches to avoid obstruction to the traffic, fruit trees to be avoided because children may obstruct traffic and general movement of public.

The selection of plant species for the development depends on various factors such as climate, elevation and soil. The criteria are based on pollution mitigation capacity (including Particulate matter), large leaf surface area, deep root system and less litter fall. Faster growing trees with lighter canopy will be planted alternatively with relatively slow growing trees with wider canopy. Trees of will be planted at 4.5 m intervals, 2.5 m away from the road curbing as per CPCB guidelines. Trees will be planted along the periphery and roadside of the project. The list of plant species, which can be suitably planted, and having significant importance are provided in Table-10.

5. AIR ENVIRONMENT

5.1 Will the project increase atmospheric concentration of gases & result in heat islands? (Give details of background air quality levels with predicted values based on dispersion models taking into account the increased traffic generation as a result of the proposed constructions).

. Increased traffic generation due to project is not going to cause significant increase in atmospheric concentration of gases and will not result in heat island formation. The minor impacts of emissions from traffic will be neutralized by developing a thick green belt along the periphery and internal road side. . During construction phase, dust emissions will be the main pollutants associated within on-site roads, (paved and unpaved), stockpiles and material handling. . Regular water sprinkling will be done and construction material will be transferred in trucks covered with tarpaulin. . The other major source of pollution during operational phase will be emissions from DG sets. . Adequate height of stacks will be provided to the DG sets as per guidelines of MoEF(as per the Gazette of India Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (I) No. 318, dated July 11, 2002, is given below, refer table no. 11) to facilitate the dispersion of flue gases into the atmosphere. Most of the concrete to be used at site, will be ready mix concrete available from nearby factories.

5.3 Will the proposal create shortage of parking space for vehicles? Furnish details of the present level of transport infrastructure and measures proposed for improvement including the traffic management at the entry & exit to the project site.

The proposed project will have two bell mouth shaped traffic entry/exit through 18 m wide road in East and 12 m wide road in South direction. All internals roads are minimum 6.0 m wide to provide suitable fire tender path. The entry/exit points have been marked on the layout plan. Fire tender pathways shall be provided as per local bye laws. The project site is well connected to network of roads leading from various parts of the city.

During post construction phase, not much noise is anticipated, on account of project being group housing. However, noise generated due to vehicular movement, operation and maintenance will be mitigated by adopting following measures.  DG set will be silent type with anti-vibration pads.  Administrative control by display of slogans and sinages  Green belt/plantation along the internal roads will also work as noise barriers.

5.6 What will be the impact of DG sets & other equipment on noise levels & vibration in & ambient air quality around the project site? Provide details.

Impacts on Air Quality due to DG Sets and construction equipments:  Noise will be emitted during construction due to operation of construction machinery like batching plant, concrete pumps, tower cranes, DG set, Air compressors etc.  Impact on onsite workers are expected to be highest. One of the major sources of noise during operational phase will also be the diesel based generator.  Impacts on ambient air during operation phase would be due to emissions from the stacks attached to stand by DG sets.

Mitigation Measures  Workers shall be provided with PPE such as ear muffs, helmets, anti-vibration boots etc.  DG sets will comply with the applicable emission norm.  Adequate stack height for DG sets will be provided as per norms.  Acoustic enclosures DG set with anti-vibration pad shall be used  Back up DG sets will be used only during power failure.  Monitoring of emissions from DG sets and ambient air quality will be carried out as per norm.

6. AESTHETICS

6.1 Will the proposed constructions in any way result in the obstruction of a view, scenic amenity or landscapes? Are these considerations taken into account by the proponents?

The proposed construction in any way will not result in the obstruction of a view, scenic amenity or landscapes, which has already been considered during planning.

8. BUILDING MATERIALS

8.1 May involve the use of building materials with high-embodied energy. Are the construction materials produced with energy efficient processes? (Give details of energy conservation measures in the selection of building materials and their energy efficiency). The major materials required for construction of the proposed project will be steel, cement, bricks, metal, flooring tiles/stones, sanitary and hardware items, electrical fittings, water, etc. . Conventional construction material will be used outsourced from authorized vendors/sellers. . All items to be used in the proposed project will be as per the National Building Code specification. If the building materials with high-embodied energy are locally available, it will be used in construction. . Low embodied energy material like ready mix concrete, fly ash bricks will be used in construction.

8.2 Transport and handling of materials during construction may result in pollution, noise & public nuisance. What measures are taken to minimize the impacts?

Mitigation Measures for Air Pollution (Construction Stage) To minimize the adverse impact due to air pollution during construction following measures will be taken.  Transportation of construction material will be provided with suitable covering like tarpaulin cover.  Water sprinkling shall be done at the location where dust generation is anticipated.  Raw material handling yard will be enclosed from all sides.  To minimize the occupational health hazard, proper personal protective gears i.e. mask shall be provided to the workers who are engaged in dust generation activity.  The trucks used for transport will be thoroughly checked for emission parameters and properly maintained.  The raw materials transport will be avoided during the peak hours to reduce traffic load.

Mitigation measures for Noise Pollution (Construction Stage)  Administrative as well as engineering control of noise will be implemented. To prevent occupational hazard earmuffs / earplugs shall be given to the workers working around the operating plant and machinery emitting high noise levels.  Use of such plant or machinery shall not be allowed during night hours.  Careful planning of machinery operations and scheduling of operations shall be done to minimize such impacts.

8.3 Are recycled materials used in roads and structures? State the extent of savings achieved?

Waste from construction like excavated earth, empty cement bags, paper, cartoon and iron rods etc. will be reused/ recycled as far as possible. Empty plastic cement bags and other plastic waste will be used in road construction. The waste generated as brick bats, plaster cement, reinforcement steel, concrete falls, ceramic tiles, etc will be used as a construction material.

8.4 Give details of the methods of collection, segregation & disposal of the garbage generated during the operation phases of the project.

The philosophy of solid waste management will be to encourage the four R‟s of waste i.e. waste reduction, reuse, recycling, and recovery (materials & energy). Regular public awareness meetings will be conducted to involve the residents in the proper solid waste management plan, options and techniques.

Estimation of solid Waste On the basis of the solid waste being collected in different cities, the per capita rate of solid waste generation has been adopted as 0.5 kg per day per person for residents, 0.25 kg per day per person for staff and 0.15 kg per day per person for visitors, Horticulture waste @ 0.0037 kg/m2/day, and e-waste @ 0.15kg/capita/year. Thus the anticipated municipal solid waste worked out as below:

 Adequate number of colored bins (green and Blue - separate for Bio-degradable and Non Bio- degradable) are proposed to be provided  Recyclable waste will be sold to authorized agencies.  Hazardous waste (Spent Oil) & e-waste will be stored at separate place and handover to authorized dealers of CPCB.  Litter bin will also be provided in open areas like parks & play grounds etc.

Transportation, Treatment & Disposal Generated Solid waste shall be segregated & collected on common solid waste collection center at site, and handed over to authorized recyclers for treatment and disposal. Following steps have been proposed for collection, treatment and disposal of MSW:  Step 1: Segregation of MSW at source and collection from the premises  Step 2: Transportation of MSW  Step 3: Segregation of MSW for processing  Step 4: Shredding of the compostable waste to desired particle size  Step 5: Treatment of biodegradable waste through composting.  Step 6: Disposal of non-biodegradable waste through authorized dealers.

Hazardous Waste The Project is a Building Construction Project in which no storage of hazardous chemicals (as per MSIHC rules) will be done, except HSD (low sulphur variety) required to run standby DG sets. Also, the quantity to be stored will be below the threshold limit specified in the MSIHC rules. During construction paints, solvents, thinner, oil and lubricants will be stored for use which is hazardous to health. E-Waste E-Waste (Management & Handling Rule, 2016) Electronic waste, popularly known as „e-waste‟ can be defined as waste electrical and electronic equipments whole or in part or reject (such as CDs, floppies, keyboards, monitors, power plug, bulbs, batteries, etc.) which have become obsolete due to:  Advancement in technology  Changes in fashion, style and status  Nearing the end of their useful life. Responsibility of Consumer or Bulk Consumer According to E-Waste (Management & Handling Rule, 2016) responsibility of Consumer or Bulk Consumer is given below:  Consumer or Bulk Consumer of electrical and electronic equipment shall ensure that e-waste generated by them is channelized to authorized collection centers or registered dismantlers or recyclers or is return back to the pick-up or take back services provided by the producers.  Bulk consumers shall maintain records of e-waste generated by them in Form-2 and make records available to UPPCB.

The e-waste generated from the proposed project would be suitably managed through assistance from e-waste handling agency. The mantra of "Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle" applies here also.  Reduce generation of e-waste through smart procurement and good maintenance.  Reuse still functioning electronic equipment by donating or selling it to someone who can still use it. Recycle those components that cannot be repaired. To identify organizations who reuse or recycle electronics.

9. ENERGY CONSERVATION

9.1 Give details of the power requirements, source of supply, backup source etc. What is the energy consumption assumed per square foot of built-up area? How have you tried to minimize energy consumption? The details of power requirement, source, and backup power arrangements are given below:

Building design and envelope may be optimized through selection of appropriate wall and roof construction and through adoption of solar passive measures after studying the sun path analysis to provide shading devices for windows and roof which would reduce energy demand. Components of the solar architectural features in the proposed building: • Adequate natural cross-ventilation. • Sufficient day-lighting with direct heat gains • Adequate shading devices • Natural cross ventilation: There will be adequate open able windows and doors in the living spaces, kitchens & bathrooms. • Window: The major expanse of windows in a passive solar energy structure will be south facing solar windows. Whole design planning includes following considerations: the impact of heat gain in the summer; views; natural lighting; and privacy requirements in determining the placement and size of windows in the structure. For the most part, window areas on East and West facing walls will be kept as small and as minimal as will be consistent with interior requirements.

 Shading: South facing glass can be a source of overheating during summer months. The potential for overheating will be controlled by roof over carefully designed to shade the glassduring the summer (sun higher in the sky) but not block sunlight during the winter (lower in the sky).

9.5 Does the layout of streets & buildings maximize the potential for solar energy devices? Have you considered the use of street lighting, emergency lighting and solar hot water systems for use in the building complex? Substantiate with details.

Yes, the layout of streets & buildings has been designed to maximize the potential for solar energy. Solar energy will be used for street lighting. 50% of street lights will be powered by solar lighting. Also automatic light sensors will be installed to facilitate automatic off-on action resulting in significant amount of energy saving.Projections, shades, façade elements will reduce the summer heating of the building. Green areas and open spaces will achieve a reduction in heating in summer.

9.6 Is shading effectively used to reduce cooling/heating loads? What principles have been used to maximize the shading of Walls on the East and the West and the Roof? How much energy saving has been effected?

Shading options wherever feasible will be used for energy saving. Roofs will be painted with reflective, aluminum based paints with solar reflectance ranging from 0.3-0.6. This will result in less absorption of sunlight causing 40% back reflection and less heating of building structures during summer season. This will effectively reduce the heat load of the building envelope. Projections, shades and façade elements will reduce the summer heating of the building. Green areas and open spaces will achieve a reduction in heating in summer.

9.7 Do the structures use energy-efficient space conditioning, lighting and mechanical systems? Provide technical details. Provide details of the transformers and motor efficiencies, lighting intensity and air-conditioning load assumptions? Are you using CFC and HCFC free chillers? Provide specifications.

Suitable energy optimization will be adopted during the calculation of energy load of the proposed project. LED will be used in place of incandescent and halogen lamps in all common areas and basement parking.

Energy Efficient Features:  Maximum utilization of natural light.  LED& T-5 lighting fixtures in the common areas and Truelite fluorescent lamps in basements.  Use of solar lights partly in open areas and landscaped area.  Appropriate thermal insulation in walls and roofs to reduce heat gain and loss.  Glazing glass: to keep the U value as per ECBC.

9.8 What are the likely effects of the building activity in altering the microclimates? Provide a self- assessment on the likely impacts of the proposed construction on creation of heat island & inversion effects?

Heat emission from the proposed project can be from the following sources: • Heat absorbed and radiated from the paved and concrete structures. • Increased population for a particular stretch of land. Any building activity would alter the microclimate of a site and it is inevitable that wind patterns and thermal gain patterns on a site would be changed. But the proposed building has been carefully designed to modify the microclimate so as to improve overall thermalcomfort and reduce energy consumption. Hard paving onsite has been reduced to the extent possible to reduce the heat island effects (surface). The project will have good tree plantation which will further help to reduce the heat island effect. To reduce the heat load reflective insulated glass shall be used in fenestrations to cut on heat loads and subsequently capital and operating cost of air conditioning. Shade giving trees will be planted near the east and west side windows which will affect the microclimate and will provide cooling effect in summers. The building will use energy efficient and environmental friendly designs that will control formulation of heat island effect. There will also be sufficient green cover at the site to reduce formation of heat island.

9.10 What precautions & safety measures are proposed against fire hazards? Furnish details of emergency plans. Adequate fire protection facilities will be installed including fire detectors, fire alarm and fire fighting system to guard the building against fires. All fire protection facilities are designed as per the latest National Building Code. The approvals in this regard have been obtained.

Fire Fighting System The basic system for Fire Fighting shall be designed as per the provisions of the National Building Code . Dedicated fire fighting overhead tanks are proposed on top of the building. Water from these reserve tanks will be drawn by electrically driven fire pump of capacity 900 LPM and supplied into hydrant ring main and wet riser system. The system will be kept pressurized at all times in order to ensure instant availability of water at all points.

Fire Safety The building materials shall be of appropriate fire resistance standard. Further, design of building will be as per NBC, 2005, which include following provisions:

. The electrical systems shall be provided with automatic circuit breakers activated by the rise of current as well as activated by over current. . Fire detection systems . Manual operated Fire Alarm systems at appropriate places . Double door and Double stairs in building will be provided . Bell Mouth traffic entry/exit through service road . Access for fireman . Provision of Mechanical ventilation for air conditioned room will be made. . Adequate fire fighting requirement shall be taken into account while designing the electrical distribution system

Sprinkler system . The Basements will be equipped with sprinkler system of fire fighting and the sprinkler heads shall be distributed as per the National Building Code. The sprinkler pump will be suitable for automatic operation when there is a drop of pressure in the system. Sprinklers shall be provided throughout the basement area with separate sprinkler risers as required. All the risers shall be provided with installation control valves and a hydraulic alarm. An electrical sensor flow switch will be provided on each floor and connected to the fire control panel in the security room, to identify the affected floor immediately. . The building will conform to the provisions of National Building Code as well as theprovisions of State Fire Safety by Laws and will be provided with adequate arrangement to overcome fuel hazards to the satisfaction of authority.

9.11 If you are using glass as wall material provides details and specifications including emissivity and thermal characteristics.

Glass will not be used as wall material except in windows as it is a housing project.

9.12 What is the rate of air infiltration into the building? Provide details of how you are mitigating the effects of infiltration.

The project will not be centrally air-conditioned. Hence, air infiltration will not cause any energy loss or undue load as would have been possible in case of air-conditioned units. Besides this, adequate provisions will be made to mitigate the effects of air infiltration.

Infiltration has been minimized through the use of EPDM gaskets in structural glazing and weather seals in the case of windows.

9.13 To what extent the non-conventional energy technologies are utilized in the overall energy consumption? Provide details of the renewable energy technologies used.

Solar Energy will be used for external lighting as far as possible and economical viable. No other technologies are viable in the case. Solar Water Heating Systems may be used, if possible. There is no wind energy available nearby. As regards to biogas, it is financial not viable for as the organic waste generated isn‟t too high.

10. Environment Management Plan

The Environment Management Plan would consist of all mitigation measures for each item- wise activity to be undertaken during the construction, operation and the entire life cycle to minimize adverse environmental impacts as a result of the activities of the project. It would also delineate the environmental monitoring plan for compliance of various environmental regulations. It will state the steps to be taken in case of emergency such as accidents at the site including fire. Environment Management Plan is discussed in Conceptual Plan.
