Description of school locality/ Dearham, Maryport, Crosby, . The school is situated down catchment area a narrow lane with very difficult access, on the outskirts of a large village. it mainly serves the village of Dearham but attracts some out of catchment children from the neighbouring town and villages.

Facilities (e.g. playground, car park, The school has a large field and adequate play areas. It has a small sports hall, community centre) visitors car park and there is parking for staff on a disused playground.

Number of entrances, There is a vehicular entrance and separate vehicular exit. There are two vehicle/pedestrian pedestrian entrances on the site. There is a main door, a nursery entrance door and a staff door

Aims This Travel Plan specifically aims at reducing car journeys to and from school, and reducing/preventing casualties on these journeys.

Parents attempting to park as near the school also present a hazard. It also promotes walking to school as being beneficial to health.

Reduce the number of car journeys to/from school. Reduce traffic and pollution around school. Promote two drop off points in the village so that children may walk from there.

Encourage parents to include at least a little walking or cycling in the daily journey for their childs health and fitness. Improve safety and air quality on the school journey. Reduce all child casualties.

4 Summary of transport and road safety problems (Current problems on routes to the school, and reasons preventing sustainable travel to school)

Difficult to access to school, as Main Street leads to a narrow lane where two way traffic in the area of the school is impossible. Parents are parking closely to the school causing danger to pedestrians.
