Star Lane tunnel Rita Buckley, Lymm I DRIVE and walk through Star Lane Tunnel every day and find it appalling how there isn’t a barrier on the passenger’s sidewalk side. The cars drive through it most of the times at great speed and if anyone was to be pushed out of the sidewalk - as I have seen many students from the High School do: push one another and one falls on the road - they would be run over. It’s like the Council is waiting for an accident to happen so then they can put the barrier up. This is a major concern that should be raised and maybe then something will be done about it.

300 runners in festival trail races MORE than 300 runners took part in the inaugural Lymm Runners Festival Trail Races. Staged as part of the Lymm Festival, there was a 2k children’s fun run, 5k trail race and 10k trail race. A field of 93 took part in the 5k trail race which was won by Chris Stanford in 18:41. The first woman to finish was Fiona Randles in 23:14, the first male junior to cross the line was Tom Spence in 20:23 and the first female junior to finish was Georgia Moreton 24:14. For the 10k race there were 161 runners, with the first male, Tom Snape, finishing in 34:19 and the first female, Claire Munton, finishing in 43:24. Both races started at the running track at Lymm High School, went around the fields and through Spud Wood and Helsdale Wood. The children’s fun run attracted many more entries than anticipated and also started on the track and went around the field. All money raised from the fun run entries was donated to the Woodland Trust, who gave permission for the club to use the woods for the event. Lymm Runners secretary Kathryn Howard said: “Last year we held one fun run as part of Lymm Festival and we had great feedback so we developed the event for this year’s celebrations. “We had great support and a fantastic turnout from the spectators, runners and volunteers who helped to organise the event.”
