HISTORY/SOCIAL SCIENCES DEPARTMENT WELCOMES TILLER ALUMNUS By Derek Johnson, History/Social Sciences Department Instructional Coach

ustin High School Class of 2010 graduate, Max Maldonado, is upholding the once a T Tiller always a Tiller model. It is a pleasure to introduce and welcome him as the newest member of the Social Sciences Department. The former Advancement Via Individual Deter- mination (AVID) student and AVID tutor is also giving back to the program - teaching sec- tions of 10th grade AVID. Eleventh grade History rounds out his new teaching responsibilities, thereby parlaying his student teaching experience on our THS campus last year. His stint last-year as a boys’ Assistant Lacrosse Coach also earned him a nod to take on the head-coach position of our girls’ Lacrosse program. Max did his master's and creden- tial work at Chapman University after earning his political science undergraduate degree at State University, Fullerton. As a new teacher, Mr. Maldonado might be struggling to remember what free time is, but the Tustin resident has a photography hobby and is an avid concert goer.
