Middle School Summer Reading List

To begin your journey of becoming a successful 6th, 7th or 8th grade student, you will be asked to complete a summer reading assignment for Language Arts. You may choose TWO books from the following list:

Every incoming 6th grade student will also read the novel, The Magician’s Nephew by C.S. Lewis. Every incoming 6th grade student ALSO needs to bring the books, Wonder by R.J. Palacio and A Long Walk to Water by . (You DO NOT need to read Wonder and A Long Walk to Water this summer…just have them for when we need them during the school year.)

Every incoming 7th grade student will also read the novel, Double Identity by .

Every incoming 8th grade student will also read the novel, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens by Sean Covey.

If you plan to participate in middle school book club (hellllllooooo Chick-fil-a lunch every two weeks!!) and/or Battle of the Books, we will start out our year with Boy and So B. It, so you will need to read those this summer.

Finally, any additional novels read and project completed may be turned in the first day of school for extra credit. What a way to start off the year with a bang!!
