Welcome to the Bulletin! September! A time to re focus our energies and take things a little slower. The children are now back at school and the pace of life isn t quite so hectic as the previous summer months. Although traditionally known as the start of autumn, perhaps a more positive term would be late summer when temperatures are often at their most temperate, weather-wise.
It's good to see that things are slowly 5 4 getting back to normal and if you are 4 feeling comfortable getting out and about Free as a Bird again there a couple of events you might be interested in. The wine of the month comes from avery important wine producer from the Alentejo district of Portugal, just south of Lisbon. Those eagle-eyed readers will notice that we featured their white wine (Pegoes Colheita Seleccionada) acouple of months back (which is still my favourite white in the shop!)
This 2017 vintage is being heralded as one of the best for many years,
Fermentation took place in stainless steel vats at controlled temperatures followed by along maceration to extract colour, flavours and tannins. The wine was aged for 12 months in225 litreFrench and American oak of second passage, followed by four months in bottle prior to release.
Tasting Note: An intense wine with flavours of black cherry complemented by delicate floral notes and vanilla spice from the well-integrated oak. Smooth and flavoursome on the palate with good structurethrough to aspicy and warm finish. Punching way above its weight, this is an extremely classy full- bodied red.
