Amity Vineyards, Willamette Valley Amity means friendship. Amity vineyards is a family and friends run winery. Located in the Eola-Amity Hills of Yamhill County. Winemaker Myron Redford moved to Oregon in 1974 with a dream to make world class Pinot Noir. A pioneer, he was the first to produce organically grown sulfite-free wine. The first vineyards were planted in 1971. Total acres 15, planted to, Pinot Noir, Riesling and Pinot Blanc with additional contracted. Darcy Pendergrass, winemaker from 2007 through 2012, and a huge investment in new and very gentle wine processing equipment paid off with new heights of quality at this property. Ryan & Eric Harms from Union Wine Company purchased Amity in 2014. These two rarities are beautifully aged gems from a previous era. Andrew Januik “Stone Cairn” Red Mountain The fruit doesn’t fall far from the vine. Andrew Januik, son of acclaimed Washington winemaker, Mike Januik, has been honing his chops for many years from harvest through final blends at Novelty Hill-Januik Winery. If you know Mike Januik’s style you’ll immediately recognize the family resemblance, albeit, with a bit more emphasis on elegance over power. Being an avid backpacker since youth informs Andrew’s choice of branding. “A cairn, as pictured on the bottle’s front label, is a stack of stones used as an indication of being on the correct path to reach an intended destination”. The signature and winning hallmark of these wines is their lusciously ripe and expressive fruit coupled with bright, fresh berry acidity - qualities derived from warm summer days with up to 18 hours of sunlight and cool, acid-preserving desert nights. Grapes are hand-picked, hand sorted, hand punched down - in short... hand made. Barrels are mostly older French with some older Hungarian. The wines are bottled unfined and unfiltered. The winemaking style could best be described as no style imposed - let the grapes and various terroirs express themselves. Arterberry Maresh, Dundee Hills Third generation Dundee Hills grape grower Jim Maresh launched his own brand in 2007. Jim’s grandparents, Jim & Loie, first planted Maresh Vineyard in 1970 when Eyrie was the only other vineyard in the Dundee Hills. Nonagenarian, Jim Sr. can still be found amongst the vine rows on his tractor. Jim senior’s daughter, Martha Maresh, married Fred Arterberry, one of the first post-prohibition winemakers in Oregon who sadly passed away too young in 1990. Jim junior is their son. The Arterberry Maresh label recalls the font and label design Arterberry Winery used in the 1980s. Those who have driven up Worden Hill Road in Dundee will remember seeing the Maresh Red Barn on the left. The iconic vineyard surrounding it with 40-year old vines has always been farmed organic. If Oregon vineyards were classified like Burgundy Maresh would certainly be a Grand Cru. The philosophy at Arterberry Maresh adheres to old vine Dundee Hills fruit, alcohols under 14% (preferably mid 12 to lower 13%), new oak kept under 15% on Pinot, no pumping, no fining, no filtering, no acidulating, no watering. The goal is purity of fruit and naturality expressing terroir with elegance and ageworthiness. Ayres, Ribbon Ridge After years of winemaking at Domaine Drouhin Oregon, in 2000 Brad McLeroy headed over the hill and across the valley to begin planting what is now 18 acres of diverse Pinot Noir clones in the Ribbon Ridge AVA. It’s east facing orientation favors the cooler morning sun. The soil is ancient Willakenzie seabed sediments. Enforced low yields, personal attention to each vine and avoidance of chemical inputs yield wines which honestly reflect their vineyard and AVA origins. Unfined, unfiltered and unyeasted, the Pinot Noir quality pyramid here starts at its base with an elegant, delicate, floral-scented Willamette Valley blend. Next is “Perspective” - 4 vineyards in the Ribbon Ridge AVA which are visible from, and include, Ayres. There’s darker tones here with more earth, minerals and structural and more complexity. “Lewis-Rogers Lane” is the home road of Ayres Vineyard. This estate grown Reserve quality Pinot shows great finesse and concentrated blackberry fruit. “Pioneer” shows the weighty side of the vineyard. The tiny berries in this block yield more skin than juice. The wine has rich, ripe, silky tannins and pitch perfect harmony of all components. For a little something different there’s a Gamay Noir from a small single vineyard in the Chehalem Mountains. Raised in neutral barrels, it’s bright, juicy-spicy vibrant personality poses a challenge to the best Crus of Beaujolais. This small mom & pop producer should not be missed. The vineyard designate Pinot Noirs faithfully convey their respective terroirs at benchmark quality levels. The 3 Vineyard series offers high quality estate blends at value pricing. White wines here are as much a specialty as the reds. Small production “alternative” wines include varietally correct Grüner and Gamay. Corvidae (Owen Roe) Columbia Valley Made by Owen Roe, Corvidae are fruit driven, crowd-pleasing Washington wines of exceptional value. Corvidae is also the family of birds which include ravens, crows, jays and magpies. They are smart, with excellent memory, curiosity, sociability and they are … opportunist! Côtes de Ciel, Red Mountain First as partners with the Williams family in Kiona Vineyards in the 1970s, then across the road at their Ciel du Cheval vineyard, the Holmes family co-pioneered winegrowing in what today is the Red Mountain AVA. For four decades fruit from Ciel du Cheval has gone to the best of the best wineries in the Northwest and is responsible for some of the greatest red wines produced in America. While the majority of fruit is still sold, under management by second generation winegrower Richard Holmes, we can, as of the 2012 vintage, finally enjoy estate bottled wine from Ciel du Cheval. By nature, Red Mountain reds are big and those from Côtes de Ciel are no exception. However, unlike many Red Mountain reds, these wines have fine tannins and polished edges. Each wine is brilliantly true to it’s varietal character and it’s terroir. Elk Cove, Willamette Valley Elk Cove is one of Oregon's oldest and most respected wineries. Founded in 1974, the estate vineyards now cover 350 acres on six sites. In the early 1960s Lett explored high-quality Pinot growing potential around the world and discovered a French “secret” that the finest wines come from grapes grown at the climatic edge of where their final ripening coincides with the end of the growing season. With this knowledge foremost in mind, David and Diana Lett planted the first cool climate vinifera wine grapes in Oregon’s Dundee Hills in 1966 and produced their first vintage in 1970. After a fabled history of accomplishments, David Lett passed away in 2008. Today, the Letts’ son, Jason, manages the The Eyrie Vineyards. The 50+ year-old philosophy and style have not changed. And for good reason. The old and mature vineyards are farmed organic, yields kept low, yeasts native, winemaking non-interventionist, alcohols low, acids balanced, and new oak kept between unnoticeable and none. The results are characterful wines of honesty, finesse, elegance, food friendliness and aging potential that has proven legendary. The Eyrie Vineyards (pronounced eye-ree) was named for a treetop nesting home belonging to a red-tailed hawk family who have shared this vineyard land and have helped maintain it sustainably through ecological diversity and environmental harmony. Gramercy Cellars, Walla Walla Valley/Columbia Valley Founder & winemaker, Greg Harrington, is the youngest American to have attained Master Sommelier. Tempranillo and the red Rhone blends - The Third Man and L’Idiot du Village - showcase intense, pure fruit with rich textures and fine acid-tannin structure. The bright, intense, blue- black fruited Lagniappe Syrah is aged 18 months in neutral French oak puncheons. In New Orleans, Lagniappe, means, a little something extra. The Deuce Syrah is predominantly whole cluster fermented, aged in mostly neutral puncheons and is fatter and meatier. The Cabs have both power and finesse and are built for an extra long haul. The Rosé is a full-bodied but not heavy Rhone blend that marks a new quality high for WA pink. A subtle and restrained and a crisp, minerals Picpoul round out the range. Walla Walla native, Brandon Moss, worked harvests at King Estate and in New Zealand. Hamacher, Willamette Valley Designed by Eric Hamacher, The Carlton Winemaker's Studio is a LEED certified "green" facility - an incredibly efficient winery that raises quality while reducing energy, chemical, and water use. It serves as home to a fluctuating number of small wine producers and as such has been a launching pad for many who have gone on to greater endeavors. In 2016 Eric moved his eponymous brand to the historic Ponzi Estate Winery where he continues to focus solely on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The Cuvée Forets Diverses is aged in 3-year, air-dried, Taransaud barrels. The extra long drying time under the elements leaches out the aggressiveness and domineering flavors new oak often has. The flagship Pinot Noir is multi-layered with texture, nuance and harmony. “H” Wines are declassified Hamacher wines and are outstanding in their price category. McKinlay Vineyards, Willamette Valley "A wine's potential for greatness begins with the concentration of flavor in the fruit. The only way to achieve concentration is to limit the amount of fruit the plant has to ripen. Each winter the vines are pruned back so that two canes of one year old wood are left to be tied horizonally to the fixed fruiting wire. Out of these canes grow the new year's shoots which carry the fruit clusters and leaves to form the vertical canopy to ripen the fruit. The new shoots are trained upward into the trellis in order to orient both fruit and leaves to sun and greater air flow, easing disease pressure and promoting flavor development. A healthy shoot in most years will set (produce) two and sometimes three clusters. In our pursuit of richly flavored wines only one cluster is allowed to ripen on each shoot. Many might question the economics of this practice, but there is never a question of the resulting wine quality. What separates Pinot noir from other red varietals is its ability to express itself in such a confident and understated form. Pinot noir at its finest is red, not black; freshly fragrant; richly and brightly flavored with complexity and length. The winemaker's hand is light to balance, not mute these attributes and promote the purest possible expression a vineyard has to offer. Appropriately, McKinlay Pinot noir ferments with native yeasts, without additions; ages in modest pecentages of new oak and is neither fined nor filtered at bottling.” MATT KINNE, owner/grower/winemaker Case Bottle 5% 10% availability 15/16 Pinot Noir Willamette Valley $168 14.00 13.30 12.60 15 limited MV15/16PN 2014 Pinot Noir “Special Selection” Willamette Valley $312 26.00 MV14S 2014 Pinot Noir “Ladd Hill” Willamette Valley $312 26.00 MV14L 2012 Pinot Noir “Estate” Willamette Valley $312 26.00 limited MV12E McCrea Cellars, Red Mountain/Yakima Valley 2005 Sirocco (red southern Rhone blend) Washington $216 18.00 limited MC05SR

Novelty Hill, Columbia Valley With awards and honors from the American Institute of Architects and the International Interior Design Association, Novelty Hill is a uniquely beautiful state of the art winery in Woodinville, WA. Here, Mike Januik crafts Novelty Hill and his own Januik wines. Whereas Januik wines utilize top vineyards from many AVAs, Novelty Hill is primarily anchored around their Stillwater Creek estate vineyard on the Wahluke Slope. First planted in 2000 on the Royal Slope in the Frenchman Hills, Stillwater Creek is south-facing and is one of the steepest vineyards in the Columbia Valley. Though fine reds do emanate from there, Stillwater Creek is looking more and more to be one of Washington’s star white wine vineyards. The dry, round, figgy Sauvignon Blanc could sit comfortably with a group of fine white Graves. The Chardonnay is medium-full and very well balanced for food. Over the decades, two generations of the Campbell family have acquired a collection of sloping top-tier vineyards on diverse soil types. Fruit for Pike Road is sourced primarily from the younger vines of these vineyards and is supplemented with a smaller percentage from a few additional trusted winegrower friends. Reynvaan, Walla Walla Valley Mike & Gale Reynvaan (pronounced RHEIN-van) founded Reynvaan Family Vineyards in 2004. Sixteen organically cultivated acres, appropriately named “In the Rocks”, are planted in ancient riverbed cobblestones next to Cayuse’s En Cerise Vineyard. Furthermore, Cayuse owner Christophe Baron helped select the land, directed it’s planting and consults on the winemaking. In the Rocks is planted to several clones of Syrah along with small parcels of Roussanne, Viognier and Cabernet Sauvignon. Farming the vineyard themselves allows the Reynvaans complete control of fruit quality. The , with partial whole clusters and partially destemmed whole berries, are co-fermented with Viognier or Roussanne, or both. Stonessence is the one exception being 100% Syrah. The wines are aged in French oak barrels, the majority of which are neutral. The remaining barrels are 20 - 30% new and one to three year olds. The vineyards are farmed and harvested with the objective of 14 percent or less potential alcohol. The Reynvaan’s son, Matt, is co-winemaker alongside Christophe Baron. 2007 was the inaugural vintage. Rich Table (Andrew Rich) The Rich Table philosophy demonstrates that the Columbia Valley is an ideal place to make fruit driven, supple wines - whether Syrah, Merlot, Riesling or Cabernet. Many wines contain too much oak in their structure when the fruit is not built to withstand it. With glorious old oak barrels, Rich Table offers juicy, supple Cabernet that expresses fruit complexity and a sense of place. In this bottle, Andrew Rich has assembled a fabulous drinker of a Cabernet which showcases deep, lush fruit, rich, silky tannins and a velvety texture. Sharecropper’s (Owen Roe) Made by Owen Roe, these are Willamette, Yakima and Columbia Valley wines of unbeatable quality for the dollar. The Sharecropper’s name was conceived during the economic recession of 2001 when Washington growers were faced with hardship in selling their fruit. Owen Roe wanted to help their growers and prevent missing out on the fabulous fruit. Presented with costly grapes to process, and cellaring and bottling during tough times, the winery decided to bring back the historical business practice of sharecropping, resulting in the aptly named wine, “Sharecropper’s.” This partnership meant that Owen Roe would commit to the fruit, make the wine and once it was sold, share back the profits with the growers. This remains an important part of Owen Roe history and due to success they are now able to pay the growers upfront. Trisaetum, Ribbon Ridge / Yamhill-Carlton Founded in 2003 by James and Andrea Frey, Trisaetum consists of two estate vineyards situated in two AVAs. Only Pinot Noir and Riesling are grown and produced, and only from the Frey’s estate grown fruit. The 22-acre Coast Range Estate in the Yamhill-Carlton AVA was planted in 2005 on a steep and rocky slope. The soils are Jory and Nekia (both volcanic) in the lower elevations and WillaKenzie (sedimentary) in the higher elevations. The 28-acre Ribbon Ridge Estate in the eponymous AVA counts Brick House and Chehalem’s Ridgecrest Vineyard as close neighbors, with Beaux Freres Vineyard just beyond. It’s soils are uniformly sedimentary. Both estate vineyards are farmed organic and biodynamic without irrigation. The Coast Range and Ribbon Ridge bottlings showcase each vineyard’s distinctive terroir with abundant depth, complexity, length and potential ageworthiness. The top wines, designated Estates Reserve, are best lots and barrels blended together from the two vineyards. They are exquisitely balanced and transcendently harmonious wines. Trisae are the “entry level” wines, relatively straightforward and easy to drink young. First vintage: 2007. Winemaker: James Frey. Production: 1500 - 2000 cases. The wine is all done in stainless steel and is bright, light, zesty and mineralic with notes of white flowers and pears. The Foundation Zinfandel is also from 1972 vines. It is full-bodied yet harmoniously balanced and offers up ripe, juicy blackberries with fine acidity and rounded tannins at 14.4 alc. Tunkalilla, Eola-Amity Hills Perhaps best known for having co-founded Australia’s Petaluma in 1976 and Oregon’s Argyle in 1985, both of which he later divested from, Australian native, Brian Croser, possesses an illustrious 40 year career in wine. Today, Brian still divides time between Australia and Oregon, though now, with his Tappanappa and Tunkalilla brands respectively. Straddling the 45th parallel, on the eastern side of the Eola-Amity Hills, Tunkalilla is a primely situated south-facing vineyard on red volcanic Jory clay-loam soil. At 600 feet in elevation, it is happily tucked right in between Bethel Heights to the west and Cristom to the east. 2.8 acres of Riesling were planted in 2005 and 5 acres of Pinot Noir in 2008. Walla Walla Vintners, Walla Walla/Columbia Valley Winemaking team Gordy Venneri and the now retired Myles Anderson won numerous awards for their homecrafted wines long before selling them commercially. Stylish and plushly textured reds are produced with a major nod towards Bordeaux and a tip of the hat to Italy. The second chapter of the Vintners history includes an estate vineyard at the winery in the foothills of the Blue Mountains and the addition of winemakers William von Metzger and Judah Pira to the team. Respected wine critic and writer, Paul Gregutt, describes their wines as “seductive, soft and round in the Leonetti mold.” Case Bottle availability 2011 Sangiovese, Columbia Valley $200 16.67 limited WW11SG 2015 Sangiovese, Columbia Valley $232 19.33 WW15SG 2014 Cabernet Franc, Columbia Valley $264 22.00 limited WW14F 2015 Cabernet Franc, Columbia Valley $296 24.67 WW15F 13/15 Merlot, Walla Walla Valley $224 18.67 WW13/15M 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon, Walla Walla Valley $336 28.00 limited WW14CW 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon, Walla Walla Valley $360 30.00 WW15CW

It is one of Oregon’s great and historic old vine “Legacy” vineyards. First planted in 1974 by John Bauer and known then as Dundee Hills Vineyard, it was later sold to Neil Goldschmidt, a former governor of Oregon. Goldschmidt some years later sold it to current owners, Donna Morris and Bill Sweat. Over the past three decades the fruit has gone to numerous top wineries and has accounted for many great single vineyard wines from Adelsheim, Elk Cove, Penner-Ash and Rex Hill. Today, the vineyard is planted entirely to Pinot Noir and is farmed biodynamic under the guidance of Phillipe Armenier, a leading BD practitioner whose family owns Domaine de Marcoux in Chateauneuf du Pape. Winderlea’s minerally Chardonnay comes from Hyland and Carabella vineyards. The Dundee Hills Pinot is from pedigree Worden Hill Road vineyards - Winderlea, Ana and Juliard. At the top are the 100% estate grown Pinots. The Winderlea Vineyard displays great concentration and terroir expression with ultimate finesse. Legacy offers amazingly sweet fruit and silky texture from 1974 - 1976 Winderlea vines. Nierstein is a particularly interesting wine village for several reasons. Perhaps foremost among them is it’s different and transitioning soil types. On the steep slopes of the Roter Hang (Red Slope) north of the village, the soils are comprised of red sandstone, red slate and red clay. On the plateau above the Roter Hang it’s wind blown loess. South of the village there’s a transition to limestone and loam, similar to the vineyards of Oppenheim, the neighboring wine village to the south. One can spend fascinating time comparing Rieslings from these three distinct terroirs from the same winemaker. Schneider demonstrates this to the fullest with their terroir series of dry Rieslings - vom Kalk (limestone), vom Rotliegenden (red sandstone) and vom Löss (loess) Case Bottle 5% 10%/3 2015 Niersteiner Dornfelder $96 8.00 7.60 7.20 GS15D 2015 Riesling vom Kalk (from limestone) trocken $116 9.67 9.18 8.70 GS15VK 2015 Riesling vom Rotliegenden (from red sandstone) trocken $128 10.67 10.13 9.60 GS15VR 2013 Hipping Berg Riesling trocken $280 23.33 22.17 21.00 GS13HB 2016 Niersteiner Paterberg Riesling Kabinett $104 8.67 8.23 7.80 GS16PK 2015 Niersteiner Hipping Riesling Spätlese $136 11.33 10.77 10.20 GS15HS 2014 Niersteiner Hipping Riesling Spätlese $132 11.00 10.45 9.90 GS14HS 2015 Niersteiner Hipping Riesling Auslese 12/375 $120 10.00 9.50 9.00 GS15HA3
