Christ became obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Because of this, God greatly exalted him and bestowed on him the name which is above every name.

Homily

Profession of Faith

I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead

Memorial Acclamation

Great Amen

For Catholics receiving Holy Communion: All are encouraged to receive on the hand to minimize the risk to both minister and recipient. Please keep your mask on while you re- ceive the Host in your hand, then step to the side, remove your mask, and consume the Host, replacing your mask as you walk back to your seat. To our non-Catholic friends: we are glad you are here! Receiving Holy Communion is a sign of our union with the Lord Jesus and with each other in faith and in practice, so we cannot offer you Communion, but we invite you to come forward with your arms crossed over your chest, and we will offer a short prayer for you. Please pray with us for the full union of all Christians! Communion Antiphon

Prayer to End Coronavirus

Holy Virgin of Guadalupe, Queen of the Angels and Mother of the Americas. We fly to you today as your beloved children. We ask you to intercede for us with your Son, as you did at the wedding in Cana. Pray for us, loving Mother, and gain for our nation and world, and for all our families and loved ones, the protection of your holy angels, that we may be spared the worst of this illness. For those already afflicted, we ask you to obtain the grace of healing and deliverance. Hear the cries of those who are vulnerable and fearful, wipe away their tears and help them to trust. In this time of trial and testing, teach all of us in the Church to love one another and to be patient and kind. Help us to bring the peace of Jesus to our land and to our hearts. We come to you with confidence, knowing that you truly are our compassionate mother, health of the sick and cause of our joy. Shelter us under the mantle of your protection, keep us in the embrace of your arms, help us always to know the love of your Son, Jesus. Amen. Closing Hymn When I Survey the Wondrous Cross

ut-catholic This is an artist's sketch of the new crucifix that will be installed in the current niche of the Holy Spirit Chapel by the beginning of the Fall 2021 semester. The cruci- fix was designed by a UCC alum- nus and will be crafted by ALBL Oberammergau studios in Germa- ny. The design for the crucifix is a reflection on the rich imagery of Christ’s teaching in John Chapter 15 and the presence of Mary the Mother of God and the Beloved Disciple at the foot of the cross. These are treasured passages and images for several of the UCC stu- dent groups. The crucifix features numerous aspects of Scriptural ty- pology and liturgical theology, borrowing the best from the East- ern and Western traditions in sa- cred art, both ancient and contem- porary. The crucifix will feature a hand-carved and painted corpus in sculptural relief, set on a paint- ed iconographic cross with gold leaf.
