Private property owners have been notified of the scheduled harvesting and post-harvest burning. FMZ FMZ 2 – Special Management and FMZ 3A Harvesting Excluded and FMZ 4- General Management occur within the Compartments 491 and 595 and are shown on the HPOM. FMZ 2 and 3A – Harvesting and harvesting machinery are not permitted in these areas except for the construction and maintenance of new Cpt595/3 Road onto Black Range Trail. PA must mark boundaries as shown on the HPOM. National Park National Park forms the western boundary of the Compartments 491 and 595 and is shown on the HPOM. The PA must mark the boundary as mapped. The crew must ensure access roads to the National Park are not impeded by forestry activities and the roads condition is maintained. A 20 metre wide road maintenance zone exists adjacent to Black Range Trail and Mount Imlay National Park. Only routine road maintenance activities are permitted (eg: road side clearing, road drainage and road re-alignment). The PA is not required to mark this boundary but must ensure Black Range Trail is used as the harvest boundary. Cultural Heritage Surveys have been conducted.

Proposed Control Lines Construct bare earth control lines as mapped on the HPOM. If the harvesting does not extend to the proposed control lines, construct the control lines at or near the interface of actual harvest area and the non-harvest area.

7. Harvesting Conditions

Silviculture Type Harvesting Objectives and Condition for each stand condition

Modified Shelter- The harvest area is predominately mature to over mature Monkey and Maiden wood (MSW) Gum and Yellow Stringbark in mixed aged stands with very narrow strip of Silvertop Ash on the ridge top. The objective is to harvest all commercially

available trees to create canopy openings and ensure mechanical disturbance Entire Harvest Area creates a suitable seed bed for regeneration of the stands. Crew to target sawlogs, pulpwood and other miscellaneous products as markets allow. PA to instruct crew to retain patches (>0.5ha) of quality advanced regeneration where they occur. Crew to remove all merchantable stems not marked for retention. The crew is responsible for protecting retained seed trees and retaining patches of advanced regeneration. The survey must search for threatened (5.1, 5.2) and protected species features listed in conditions 5.1 and 5.2 of the TSL. Impenetrable Understory has been indicatively mapped and is shown on the PA copy of the HPOM. The PA must field check and map these areas during mark-up and handover unmarked areas to the PA.

Hollow-bearing and Non-Regrowth Zone - 5.6, conditions apply. Recruitment tree retention (H Additional H trees for Greater Glider condition does not apply. and R) PA must verify the habitat quality and record on the habitat quality map. PA must select and mark H and R trees as per the habitat quality. Habitat Quality H Trees/2ha R Trees/2ha High 12 12 Moderate 8 8 Low 4 4

Significant Food Resources PA must mark for retention - 6 Eucalypt feed trees/2 ha where they occur, glider sap feed trees, stands of forest oak and forest (5.6 k) oak feed trees. E. tricarpa, E. globoidea and E. maidenii are are suitable E tree species present in these compartments.

Harvesting - crew and PA responsibilities

Protection of Retained Trees Trees marked or selected for retention must not be felled. (5.6g) The crew must minimise damage to H, R and E trees by using directional felling. Harvesting debris should not accumulate within 5 m of retained trees. Where debris does accumulate the crew must remove or flatten to < 1m high. The PA must be notified of any badly damaged retained trees and they must assess and record if a replacement retained tree is required.

Stag Retention (Dead standing The crew should retain stags where safe to do so. trees 5.6e) The crew must record the date, DBH, risk and location of unsafe stags removed

Significant food resources The crew should avoid damaging flowering or fruiting banksias or grass trees.

Impenetrable Understory In areas mapped by the PA as Impenetrable Understory procedures for harvesting in un-marked forest must be implemented by the PA and Crew.
