INTERNATIONAL DANCE SCHOLARSHIPS Arathi School of Dance Scholarship –* amount - $250 (Tuition) * purpose - attend program in Dallas, TX, to study Bharata Natyam, a discipline of Indian dance, with a guest artist * date - july 2013 – 3 weeks * eligibility - any dance student age 13 - 21 * funding - Arathi School of Dance ICHF Scholarship –* amount - $500 (cash) * purpose - attend any Indian classical dance or another traditional dance discipline workshop/program * date - summer 2013 * eligibilty - any student trained primarily in Indian classical dance – preference given to a high school graduate * funding - Indian Cultural Heritage Foundation (“ICHF”) CHOREOGRAPHER SCHOLARSHIP Glenda Brown Choreography Project Choreographers Scholarship –* amount - $500 (tuition, room & board offset) * purpose - attend Glenda Brown Choreography Project as a choreographer at the University of Missouri in Kansas City, MO – ballet, modern, and jazz, including performing * date - july 2013 – 2 weeks * eligibility - teachers/artistic directors/ student applicants, minimum age 18, emerging or experienced choreographers. GBCP provides opportunity for emerging or experienced choreographers who want to stimulate their creativity. Choreographers receive assignment from their mentor, the Director of Choreography, and consult with the Music Director. Time is provided for choreographer to prepare and dancers are assigned. after rehearsal period the choreographic studies are performed for the entire workshop. a critique session on the choreography shown each evening is led by Director of Choreography and Musical Director for faculty and fellow-choreographers. at the end of the Project selected dance works are showcased on the final special performance. (this scholarship is also open to Student Applicants, minimum age 18.) * funding - Glenda Brown TEACHER SCHOLARSHIP Artful Dancewear Teacher Scholarship –* amount - $500 cash * purpose - attend a national dance intensive/workshop or continuing education course more than 100 miles from teacher’s home studio – application (no video required) to include (1) how and where the scholarship will be used, (2) the teacher’s goals for the next 12 months, and (3) how the experience will be used to enrich his/her students * date - summer 2013 * eligibility - any dance teacher * funding - Artful Dancewear and Kay Dalziel DANCE WRITER SCHOLARSHIP Margaret Putnam Scholarship for Dance Writers –* amount - $500 (cash) * purpose - attend tbd * date - summer 2013 * eligibility - no age restriction - the applicant should demonstrate a keen interest in dance; dance training is a bonus; dance critic submits three dance articles written in the last two years: two must be dance reviews and the third a background story on a dancer, choreographer, company, dance work or anything else related to dance (it is not required that these be published writings but they may not be papers used to fulfill a school assignment) * a final report is required, an overview of what was experienced and its impact on the recipient’s development. * funding - proceeds from the Margaret Putnam Tribute Gala held in January 2011
