The fruits of our “Miracle Sunday” on staff September 30th are one indication of our commitment to making our building and our programs more welcoming. Heartfelt thanks to all who contributed to the Minister: Rev. Lynn Thomas Strauss Director of Religious Education: raising of over $35, 000 on a single Sunday. A miracle indeed! Deborah McGrady Kahn Director of Music: On November 4th, we will welcome over 25 new members. It was a gift to walk on the beach together and share our Board of Trustees vision for UUCR. On the last evening of the retreat I offered a vespers service for my colleagues. Jill Asman, President; Herb Winkler, Vice President; Karla Timmons, Secretary; Dave Marks, Treasurer; Katie Calder; And rather than planning a service ahead of time, I brought a variety of Crispin Taylor, Karen Malley; Terrie McNulty, Immediate Past President materials with me to the retreat and then waited to see where the workshop leader would take us and what might be needed to bring harmony to the Officers experience of the day. We had been in our heads a lot, working in small groups Secretary: Karla Timmons to craft theological statements. I felt the need for a bit of quiet, heart time. Into Treasurer: Dave Marks the circle I offered a long meditation with healing music, a reading familiar to Assistant Treasurers: many, a story that focused on the uniqueness of Unitarian Universalist ministry Eric Burch and a time for singing familiar songs. We ended the worship with a prayer. Dick Gilbert
