Monday, May 11 Issue 30 Sacred Heart family going the extra mile for charity Lockdown is not stopping the Sacred Heart family from doing their bit to raise money for charity. Our energetic employees and pupils, past and present, are using their allotted time to exercise by doing everything from walking, running and cycling in a bid to raise more than a sweat, being as they are seeking sponsorship for their exertions. Our main picture shows Charlotte Gee, daughter of support staff worker, Pat Gee, as she set off on a ten mile sponsored cy- cle around Crosby which, of course, took in Sacred Heart and our partner schools along the way. Charlotte was a pupil at St Edmund’s and St Thomas’ primary school before joining Sacred Heart in 1999. Journey Charlotte’s work journey has seen her return to primary school, where she is now a man- ager of the ‘after school club’ at Ursuline. Those who prefer two legs over two wheels have chosen to walk or run 5K, as they seek to hit a target of 5,662 steps. That includes Mr Walsh (pictured below), father of our very own, Ms Walsh. Meanwhile, as part of the 2.6 Challenge, six pupils from St Edmund’s and St Thomas’ combined recently to do a mara- thon by completing a 7km run each. All money raised will go towards our chosen charities, Hospital Trust and St Joseph’s Hospice. News in brief As per Government instructions, College will remain closed until further notice. Staff and students at Sacred Heart and its partner schools have been no diff erent and, last month, launched a competition to see who could come up with the best rainbow-themed design. Last week, the judges Zoomed in and chose their winning entry. Honour That honour went to Nate, who is in Reception at Great Crosby, and his younger sister Trixie. The pair put their heads together for the NHS to produce a heartwarming piece of art. Their eff orts were justly re- warded by St Joseph’s Hos- pice who sent them a certif- icate, mugs and sweets. Meanwhile, Aintree Hospital Trust sent them a voucher to see Father Christmas in De- cember and the celebrations were completed with bal- loons from Partyporium. The money raised from the competition will go towards Aintree Hospital Trust and St Joseph’s Hospice.
