BBC Radio Solent and Wicor School Garden day: Sat Oct 4th (10-4).

Come along and be part of this FREE gardening event, celebrating our love of gardening, GYO and cooking with home-grown produce.

Wicor School - WWF Green Ambassadors, Gold ‘in Bloom’ winners for South and South East and Plant Guardians as part of Plant Heritage scheme - is opening its grounds to the public.

The grounds contain a heritage orchard, tropical bed, Jurassic garden, veg plots and a number of polytunnels.

FREE Attractions between 10 and 4 include:

Allotment walk-and-talks from the RHS about GYO gardening.

Childrens’ gardening demonstrations with Head Gardener, Rachel Foster from Patrick’s Patch based at Fairweather’s Garden Centre in Beaulieu.

WWF and Alpro demonstrations on healthy eating and cooking with home-grown produce.

Seasonal cookery demonstrations from Clare Briant of Clare’s Cuisine.

A Talk on planting with shrubs and book signing with multi Chelsea-Gold winner Andy McIndoe.

Hands-on flower arranging sessions from the National Association of Flower Arrangement Societies (Jersey and Wessex).

Apple pressing demonstrations from Hill Farm Apple Juice.

Gardening advice from Garsons of Titchfield.

PLUS

The chance to meet the BBC Radio Solent gardening panellists.

You can come along to look around the grounds and watch the various demonstrations for FREE, although donations to BBC Children in Need and the National Garden Scheme are gratefully received.

Gardeners’ Questions

BBC Radio Solent is also hosting a special recording of its ‘Gardeners’ Questions’

This is a ticketed event for only 150 people. Hosted by Georgina Windsor; your panellists will be Andy McIndoe, Pip Bensley and Alan Edmondson.

The ticket cost is £5 per person with proceeds split between BBC Children in Need and the National Garden Scheme. (The price also includes tea and cake after the recording.)

Time: Recording time is between 1.00-3.15 but doors open at 1230 (no admittance after 1255)
