BRIEF NEWS UPDATE WEEK OF JULY 1, 2021

Extension Office open by Phone on Friday, July 2nd! Please note: Miami County offices will observe the Juneteenth Federal Holiday on Friday, July 2. Therefore, all county buildings will be closed. The OSU Extension Office in the Hobart Center for County Government will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on this day. Please contact us by calling 937-440-3945. However, we will be closed in observance of Independence Day on July 5.

Miami County 4-H BBQ Ticket Sales Deadline Extended The 2021 Miami County 4-H BBQ will be on Saturday, July 17, 2021. The meal will be a drive-thru/carryout only from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Clubs are again asked to sell tickets based on the number of children in the family (excluding Cloverbud members). The first child is asked to sell 4 tickets with each additional child selling 2 tickets a piece. Tickets are $9.00 each and you will have the option of a chicken or pork chop meal. Each meal will come with your choice of meat, applesauce, potato chips, roll with butter, cookie, and bottled water.

Tickets can be purchased online at https://miami-county-4-h-bbq.cheddarup.com. The ticket sale deadline has been extended to Monday, July 5.

• Skillathons and/or Project Judging are part of project completion requirements. Project Pride Day (project judging for youth enrolled in Miscellaneous or Family and Consumer Sciences projects) information was emailed this week. • All members can submit their project books for Outstanding Project Book awards! Animal project books should be current-to-date. Any Cloverbud that submits his or her My 4-H Cloverbud Year book will receive a special ribbon. Books should be dropped off by 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 21. Books will be reviewed and available for pick-up on Monday, July 26 at noon.

• The theme has been selected for 4-H booths. The 2021 theme is: “Building a Better World through 4-H”.
