Pre-Arrival

 For full details and maps to reach us please see the maps & directions section of our website: www.glasgowcitycentre.hgi.com  If you arrive by train, the Exhibition Centre station is about 10 minutes away and linked with a covered walkway to the SECC. From the SECC we are around 5 minutes away beside the large crane.  From Glasgow Central or Queen Street stations we recommend getting a taxis, cost around £6. The airport is about 20 minutes away by car, following directions to SECC.  The bus station is just 1.8 miles. That is up to 25 minutes away by foot or 5 minutes by car.  There is a bus stop outside the hotel, served by the 100 service from First Group and the Glasgow City Tours.

Car Parking and Arrival

 There are 2 entrances to the hotel, one on the main road, one on the riverside.  We recommend using the riverside entrance of the hotel, which you can see from the main hotel car park. The car park is cobbled, please call the hotel if you require assistance with luggage: 0141 240 1002. The walkway from the car park to the riverside entrance is paving slabs.  The area outside the hotel beside the car park must be kept clear for emergency vehicles. However, we are happy for you to unload your car before parking it in our barrier controlled car park. There are five spaces available for disabled drivers. One is beside the hotel before the barrier, the remaining four are locate to the right at the entrance to the car park. These spaces have enough room for wheelchairs to be placed beside the car.  If you choose to enter the hotel by the main road there are 3 steps with a handrail.

Main Entrance / Reception / Welcome Area

 The main entrance has a revolving door and a power assisted door (width 1100mm). The front doors are locked each night at 11pm. There is a night porters bell to the left of the doors (car park side). Please note there is a small ledge on the ground of the power assisted door.  As you come through the riverside door (from the outside you pull the door towards you) the reception desk is on your left hand side. The floor is tiled.  When you check in, the receptionist will explain where the restaurant, bar, lounge, business centre and fitness centre are. They will explain the door key and fire procedures, and offer luggage assistance.  There are two lifts to all floors and a staircase to the right of the lifts. The lifts are to the left of the roadside entrance.  From the reception area (opposite), you will see the lounge area, and restaurant, which looks out over the beautiful River Clyde. This area is open plan and so it is easily accessible.  There is an induction loop at the reception desk if you need it.  The floor surface throughout the lobby is marble.  To improve ambience in the evening the lobby lights are dimmed

Bedrooms

 The hotel has 164 bedrooms of which 9 are accessible.  Our accessible rooms (as with all regular rooms) have a shower only with a toilet and wash basin.  All accessible rooms have a queen sized double bed  The doors are 800mm wide  The room will have a chair and desk, and a ‘comfy’ chair. If you need more space, we can remove these items. Please contact either reservations before your stay, or reception once you have arrived at the hotel, to arrange for furniture to be moved.  The bed height in our accessible rooms, from the floor to the top of the mattress is 480mm with a 90mm clearance from the floor to the base of the bed.  The transfer space is 1570mm from the wall and 1200mm from the wardrobe  If it is more suitable the beds in our standard rooms are 660mm in height and have a space of 280mm under the bed.  All rooms have an Apple iMac Computer that doubles as a television and offers around 30 channels, including Sky Sports. To get subtitles press ‘enter’ on the remote control when viewing television channels.  All rooms have a safe, refrigerator, iron / ironing board and tea and coffee making facilities.  All rooms offer complimentary Wifi access.  The rooms are bright and have lighting at the entrance, the desk and either side of the bed, including reading lights.  The wardrobe rails in accessible rooms are 1120mm and 1880mm high.

Bathrooms, Shower-rooms and Toilets (Ensuite or Shared)

 The door to the bathroom is a folding one and 820mm wide when opened. There is a small ridge to get into the shower. There is a fold down seat in the shower that is 640mm high. The room is has a double bed and has an emergency cord in the room and bathroom that is linked to reception.  The toilet height is 430mm.  The wash basin height is 800mm.  There are 7 handrails in the bathroom and 1 adjustable arm:  o Shower: 2 x vertical rails 800mm high and 1 x horizontal rail 700mm high.  o Toilet Seat: 1 x adjustable arm to 800mm and 1 x horizontal rail 700mm high.  o Sink: 1 x vertical rail 800mm high and 2 x horizontal rails 700mm high.

Public Areas - Halls, Stairs, Landings, Corridors

 There are two lifts with tactile (markings which can be felt) buttons.  There are mirrors on the wall of the lift opposite the door from waist-to-ceiling level.  To the left of the doors, there is a sign explaining what hotel facilities are on what floors.  On the left side wall are presentation cases promoting literature about the hotel and Hilton Group.  All bedroom corridors are carpeted and are 1240mm wide. A glass door (900mm wide) for sound and fire protection separates the corridor from the lift lobby, the door opens towards you after exiting the lift.

Public Areas - Lounges, Lobbies

 The bar and restaurant is on the ground floor, located opposite reception. As you enter from reception the right hand side of the bar and restaurant has floor to ceiling windows over-looking the River Clyde. There are no steps in the restaurant and there is no fixed seating so it is ideal for all guests. The tables are 700mm high. Early booking is advised to ensure an appropriate table is reserved for you.  The bar and restaurant has a wooden floor  Both the bar and restaurant have glass doors which are normally open (if closed the door can be opened by pushing or pulling), the doors are 940mm wide.

Restaurant/Dining Room, Bar & Bar area

 Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served in the restaurant, in addition, drinks and meals are also served in the adjoining bar. Times vary and you can find them in the hotel information pack in your rooms  The tables are 700mm high. Early booking is advised to ensure an appropriate table is reserved for you.  On the left-hand side of the bar the seating is sofas, on the right hand side is upright.  Breakfast is a buffet and our staff will be happy to help, dishes can be served to the table on request.  We can provide menus in large print or we will be happy to read out the choices to you.

Public Toilets

 There are public toilets located to the left of reception after entering from the riverside door, opposite the meeting rooms.  There is a separate male, female and unisex accessible toilet that also has baby changing facilities.  In the accessible toilet the seat is 430mm high and the sink is 700mm high. For additional support there is a handrail 700mm high.

Leisure Facilities

 Our fitness centre is located on the ground floor. It is to the left of reception after entering from the riverside door.  The fitness centre requires your room key to gain access. The door is 740mm wide  The fitness centre is not staffed however is covered by CCTV.  The gym is large, bright and airy and has a number of items of keep-fit equipment from weights to cardio.  There are no toilet or changing facilities, please change in your room.  There is a water dispenser in the fitness centre to the left of the entrance.

Grounds and Gardens

 The riverside of the hotel has a wooden terrace opposite the restaurant offering seating for guests to dine outside. The tables are 760mm high.  The terrace has a small gap from the paved area.  The patio is located opposite the riverside entrance and is paving stones, the tables are 760mm high and are enclosed by planters.

Conference and Meeting Rooms

 The hotel reception and conference teams are happy to help with your conference needs.  The conference rooms are located behind reception, opposite the toilets.  3 rooms are available with the largest capable of hosting events for up to 60 delegates seated or 100 reception style.  The doors are 800mm wide.  The function room has a carpet throughout  All rooms have French doors opening out onto the riverside patio. When open the doors are 1160mm wide, there is one step from the doors to the patio, a ramp is available on request.  The rooms have natural light from the patio doors  Overhead lighting can be controlled by dimmer switches

Additional Information

 Our business centre is located on the ground floor. It is to the left of reception after entering from the riverside door.  The business centre requires your room key to gain access.  The door is 740mm wide  The floor is wooden  The business centre had two terminals and a printer offering complimentary internet and printing services.  Guest Laundry room is located on the 3rd floor allowing guests to wash and dry their own clothes. The door is 770mm wide and the floor is tiled  Full laundry and dry cleaning service is also available, pricing and service details can be found in the drawer inside the wardrobe.  If the alarm bell rings, this will be a continuous siren-like sound. Please stay in your room.  We will send a member of staff to your room immediately. He or she will knock on your door, and enter using a ‘fire key’. They will then help you to the nearest safe point in the hotel or out of the building.  If we help you to a safe point, we will give you further instructions. When you leave your room, please do not stop to collect your personal belongings other than medication that you may need.  The safe areas are on all five floors.  From the safe point, we will help you out of the hotel. We structure the evacuation to help people who are nearest to the fire. If we move you to a safe point you are not in immediate danger.  If we need to use the stairs, we will transfer you to an evacuation chair and carry you down the stairs and outside.

 If a member of staff cannot reach your room, carefully open your door and check your route to the point of safety. If it is blocked or if there is smoke, go back into your room and close the door. The door to your room is fire resistant for one hour. As soon as the fire brigade arrive we will tell them your room number.  Do not block the door with anything, including towels, as this will prevent the fire brigade from entering the room.  Do not open any windows as this can increase the air circulating and increase smoke and flames.  If the fire is in your room, get out and close the door behind you, breaking the nearest fire alarm if possible on your way out.  We test the emergency alarms on Mondays at 11am.
