Even a paradise on earth needs a judge

Based on the beselling novels by Debbie Macomber Starring Andie MacDowell and Dylan Neal Showrunner Carl Binder (Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman)

The idyllic coastal town of Cedar Cove in the American Northwest is known for its scenic beauty – and for Judge Olivia Lockhart, a radiant beauty of her own. You might say the town itself is her courtroom – for not only does she convey respect and natural authority but genuine interest and compassion for her fellow townspeople. Her cases run the gamut of small-town crime and civil disputes, many of which need to be handled with as much brains as common sense, as much candidness as tact. But it’s not only Olivia’s court style that intrigues handsome journalist Jack Griffith, it’s Olivia’s human touch. As editor- in-chief - and sole employee – of the “Cedar Cove Chronicle”, he has a finger on the people’s pulse, a pulse that sometimes beats faster, and sometimes slower, than the law... These and many more tests lay ahead for Olivia, Jack, their budding relationship, and the people around them: Jack’s estranged son Eric, Olivia’s daughter Justine, her slightly over- zealous mother Charlotte, or Stan, her ex-husband, wanting back. Or does he? In the end, Olivia can always rely on her good judgment and the support of the townspeople to steer herself and Cedar Cove clear of the dangers that lurk even in such a peaceful place...

Based on Roberto Saviano’s bestseller and the Cannes Grand Jury Prize winning feature film by Matteo Garrone.

This is the inside story of the Camorra, the fierce Neapolitan crime organization, told through the eyes of 30-year-old Ciro, the right hand of the clan’s godfather, Pietro Savastano.

Like no one else, Ciro knows what it means to be a loyal clan member. But when clan leader Pietro decides to sacrifice the lives of many of his own only to make a bloody statement to rival clan boss Salvatore CONTE, something dies in Ciro – for one of the many victims of the forced bloodshed is his foster father ATTILIO, himself an ever-loyal clan member. Still, when Pietro is sidelined by a long jail sentence, Ciro’s own code of honor forces him to obey Pietro’s orders to be a mentor first to Pietro’s son GENNARO, then to his wife IMMA – both seemingly inept to hold the reins of power but learning quickly... With his back against the wall and knowing that sowing the seeds of chaos is the best method to yield a new order, Ciro finally forges a secret pact with the clan’s worst enemy, Conte, resulting in relentless bloodshed outside and inside the Savastano clan but, finally, the desired new order, with Ciro as the new godfather. But is he really? Pietro, seemingly having gone crazy in his endless months of solitary confinement, escapes while being transferred to a mental clinic. Suddenly, his eyes are clear, vivid and fierce again – forecasting a vendetta bloodier than any Naples has ever seen…

New York, 1865. There are no more laws to follow. Not even your own.

New York City is on the brink of Lincoln’s assassination. In its tough immigrant Irish neighborhood, crime continues to thrive even with power player General Brendan Donovan now at the helm of the local police. “We need order,” Donovan thunders; but hot-headed detective Corcoran refuses to blindly obey this downtown Machiavelli and keeps on dispensing justice the way he thinks best – rules or no rules.

In Season Two, Corcoran struggles to tame the wartime metropolis while wrestling with personal demons, including the betrayal of his wife and best friend. He and those around him continue to torment and stand by one another, struggle and suffer, kill and forgive as they turn New York into the bracing melting-pot that we know today.

Production Notes COPPER was created by Tom Fontana (BORGIA, OZ, HOMICIDE) and Will Rokos (MONSTER’S BALL, SOUTHLAND); among the executive producers are Barry Levinson and Christina Wayne. The other side of crime

Starring David Sutcliffe (Private Practice, Gilmore Girls) and Brooke Nevin (Chicago Fire), and created by Tracey Forbes (Flashpoint)

Every day when we walk down the street, we encounter people who have lost their moorings. Sometimes they frighten us, sometimes they amuse us, but most of the time we ignore them. Then something snaps, and emotional distress becomes emotional crisis: a bizarre assault, a ritualized murder, a suicide attempt...

Due to his own battle with mental illness, brilliant homicide inspector Aidan Black is transferred to the Psych Crimes Unit, where cops and psychiatrists join forces to prevent and solve crimes involving unbalanced individuals. Aidan is partnered with Dr. Clara Malone, a psychiatrist whose focus is on diagnosis and treatment – not on investigation.

Aidan and Clara prove to be a congenial team. It’s not just the combination of Aidan’s police work and Clara’s psychiatric skills. Aidan’s sharpened empathy can put him inside the mindset of a delusional psychotic, while Clara’s methodical attention to detail helps her pick up on clues that others miss. They know they’ll be getting deep inside some very troubled minds – but just how far will they go?

Palermo Connection – Rivers of Blood and Money

But when a string of murders involving more than Sicily’s mighty water suppliers begins to terrorize the residents of Palermo, the heat is on for the cops to catch the culprits. The man in charge is Angelo Caronia, 30, an arrogant, ball-busting cop who’s been sent back to his native Palermo after years on the force in Rome. His mission is to wipe up the mess of water and blood spilled by the Mafia

Going back to his old haunts is tough. He immediately butts heads with his new team members, whom he feels are lazy and unmotivated. Yet day after day, Angelo learns to love Palermo, and to appreciate the openness and generosity of his colleagues. They, in turn, are conquered by the ingenuity and brilliance of their chief who, after so many years, has restored their pride in being cops. The main problem is how to tackle the Mafia – a nearly suicidal mission...

Can one woman‘s popularity save another‘s life?

A powerhouse of passion and temperament, a charismatic blend of naiveté and calculation – Eva Perón needs only a microphone and a podium to give even dictators goose bumps with her speeches. When Evita speaks, the world listens. Including, reluctantly, Spain‘s fascist dictator Franco and his rigorously conservative wife Doña Carmen. It is 1947 and Franco needs allies to support his anti-communist politics. Argentina‘s President Juan Perón agrees to a state visit – but sends his wife instead, much to the dismay of Franco and, especially, his wife. And so, in Madrid, two strong women cross paths – and cross swords over a third woman, perhaps the strongest of all: the ardent communist freedom fighter Juana Doña, sentenced to death for inciting crimes against the state. As Juana‘s young son writes a letter to Eva Perón imploring her to save his mother, chance leads the boy directly to Evita, who is moved by his letter and does all she can to have Juana‘s sentence commuted to a prison term. Her intervention infuriates Doña Carmen; but she knows that as long as Evita is the Francos‘ guest in Spain, there is only one first lady...

Cornelia is 60 and fundamentally unhappy: her son, Barbu, 34, fights with all his might to become independent. He has moved out, has his own car, has a girlfriend who obviously doesn‘t meet Cornelia‘s standards and – most upsettingly – he avoids his loving mother as much as possible. When Cornelia finds out that Barbu was involved in a tragic accident, her motherly instincts take over and she uses all her skills, well-connected friends and money to save Barbu from jail. Then she expects him to once again become the dependent child he was before. This doesn‘t seem to be a very difficult task, given the state of shock Barbu is in. But it is a thin line between motherly love and self-serving manipulation. Will she be able to let go and unlock him from his child’s pose...?

Niko lives for the moment, dreaming, drifting and marvelling until he‘s confronted by his girlfriend breaking up with hin, his father cutting off his allowance and a psychiatrist confirming his “emotional imbalance”. But all Niko wants is a decent cup of coffee.

Niko is in his late 20s and recently dropped out of college. He lives for the moment, drifting sleeplessly through the streets of Berlin, marvelling at the people around him. With a quiet curiosity, he observes how they cope with everyday life while failing to notice how he himself is becoming an outsider. But, one day, everything changes, and Niko is forced to confront the consequences of his inaction. His girlfriend ends their relationship, his father cuts off his allowance and a psychiatrist diagnoses him with an ‘emotional imbalance‘. Meanwhile a peculiar beauty from his past confronts him with the emotional wounds he inflicted, his new neighbor – accompanied by meatballs and Schnapps – pours his heart out, and throughout the city there doesn‘t seem to be a single cup of ‚normal‘ coffee available.

“Do you know the feeling when people around you seem to behave strangely? And the longer you think about it, the more it dawns on you that it‘s not other people who are strange, but yourself?” Niko‘s epiphany, however, is immediately, abruptly interrupted when he‘s forced to stand up to a rowdy gang of teenagers, and a night-time encounter with an old man not only personifies his own loneliness but also demonstrates how the city‘s history continues to assert itself.

Naturally, Nadja is a thorn in Katharina‘s side, and even though she and Henry still believe in their love, they get carried away in their own lives. When Henry sells her novel‘s leading role to save his film adaptation, she ultimately feels betrayed – and ends up in bed with another man: Tristan… When Henry hits rock bottom, he realises that he failed both as a father and a film producer. Worse yet, they all seem to think that he’s a woman, too. Which is annoying when his best buddy – once Silvio, now Silvia – starts hitting on him; but not so annoying when he runs into Paula again, a pretty, down-to-earth young woman who doesn’t see the world according to bodies and primary sexual organs, but according to the spirit inside the body. Paula is particularly moved when Alex takes a liking to her grandma, who suffers from dementia and discovers, through Alex, a love of life she had nearly forgotten. While this helps bring Paula and Alex together, Alex has to accept that in a world full of women, precious few revolve around him.

1914. The eve of the Great War

The television must-have for June 28, 2014!

It is 1914 and trouble is brewing in the heart of Europe. The Austro-Hungarian Empire is increasingly beleaguered by its unruly provinces. Among the unruliest is Serbia. Though aware of the dangers of a motorcade, Archduke Franz Ferdinand – heir to the Imperial throne – and his wife Sophie drive through Sarajevo in an open automobile, and are assassinated. The perpetrators are quickly found: the Bosnian-Serbian nationalists Princip and Cabrinovic. The examining magistrate Dr. Leo Pfeffer has been appointed by the authorities to confirm what Vienna wants to hear: that the Serbian government was behind the attacks.

Thus begins a time of lawlessness and violence, of intrigues and betrayal, in which innocent Serbs are beaten in the streets of Sarajevo, ambitious petty bureaucrats are preparing their rise to power, and foreign agents are infiltrating the ranks of the local government. Pfeffer soon finds himself in the midst of these upheavals and is drawn ever deeper into the web of corruption until it becomes practically impossible for him to maintain his integrity. If he cannot save himself, he must at least try to save his love, Marija, and her father. But the events of Sarajevo have set into motion an inescapable course of events that will escalate to become ... the Great War.

Based on Mark Twain‘s bestselling novel.

Huck Finn sits prim and proper at the table with widow Douglas and Miss Watson every day, is served by the obedient house-slave Jim, goes to school and constantly to the church as well. After all, he and his best mate Tom Sawyer are wealthy boys since they found a treasure during their last adventure. What’s wrong here? – Right, boys like Tom & Huck are definitely not prim and proper! Huck Finn loves nothing more than being outdoors in his rain barrel, catch fish and roast it on a stick over the campfire. Shoes, jackets, shirt collars – what’s all that for? Every time possible they sneak away…but one day it’s all over with the good village life.

Huck’s boozy and greedy father shows up in St. Petersburg. And he’s up to no good! The tramp and scallywag thinks that the prosperity of his son Huck belongs all to himself. Before the old man can do any mischief, Huck runs away and Jim joins him as he overhears that Miss Watson sold him to a slave trader.

On a self-made raft they start their exciting adventure down the dangerous river Mississippi all the way to Cairo and from there to Ohio, a country where slavery is forbidden and Jim can build up a life as a free man. At least that is the plan. Hunted by Huck’s dad and three ruthless slave-hunters, Huck experiences his greatest and most dangerous adventure ever.
