DISCOVER the crème DE LA crème of québec television MIPTV 2016 DIRECTORY OF EXHIBITORS PAVILION P1.B10 For the fourth year now, the Société de développement des entreprises culturelles (SODEC) is planning and coordinating the delegation of Québec representatives at MIPTV, this essential television and entertainment industry event. This year, 30 enterprises will be representing Québec television’s creativity and inventiveness, and connecting with thousands of talented professionals from the pro- duction, distribution and broadcasting sectors. The new Québec creates space will also showcase new exhibitors and provide them with an opportunity to promote them- selves, network, and ultimately sell their products abroad. A survey of last year’s MIPTV and MIPCOM Québec pavilion exhibitors revealed just how dynamic the television industry is, and how generously it contributes to Québec’s economy. Sales completed or expected, and pre-sales registered, at 2015’s MIPTV and MIPCOM amounted to nearly $29M, while acquisitions totalled $7.5M. Some 27 co-productions either were signed, or are likely to be signed, for a total amount of over $64.5M. The numbers speak for themselves, and they speak to the importance of exporting our products. Audiovisual enterprises can greatly benefit from our presence on Monique these markets, and I am proud of SODEC’s contribution in ensuring they’re a part of these events once again simard this year. I would like to warmly thank the Association québécoise de la production médiatique (AQPM) for its unwavering support and hard work to make this event flourish, year after year. We would also like to thank the Québec Culture Capital Fund, the Fonds d’investissement de la culture et des communications, Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton, and the National Bank of Canada. This year, we are pleased to count on the Fonds de solidarité FTQ as a partner in hosting the Québec creates pavilion’s reception. May our productions shine at this year’s MIPTV, and may they glow on even more screens, the world over! Monique Simard President and Chief Executive Officer Société de développement des entreprises culturelles 2 Each year, Québec independent TV productions demons- trate their undeniable vitality. They are recognized for their quality, diversity and originality; as well as for moving, entertaining and informing people in Québec and elsewhere. The Association québécoise de la production média- tique (AQPM) associates itself - for a fourth year, with the Québec creates space in order to allow independent production companies to participate in discussions with foreign markets, which take place during the MIPTV. The AQPM is proud to give the opportunity to companies it represents to be able to offer their productions, thus promoting Québec’s creativity. Exporting original TV concepts has a very important significance in the economy of audiovisual production in Québec, as shown by the attendance of many com- panies to this event. Thus, every year, these companies are achieving sales and agreements allowing them to contribute to the economic development of our industry. Our partnership with SODEC gives us the opportunity to support Québec culture influence overseas and stimulate international exchanges. Québec businesses representa- tion on the international stage is essential and is allowing Hélène Québec to establish itself as an indispensable audio- messier visual production business partner. We hope your attendance to the MIPTV 2016 will be a successful experience and that you will be able to meet people and reach agreements, which will be the source of a more stimulating future. Humour is often said to be cultural, but we believe it to be universal! That is why, for over 25 years now, we have worked to build bridges between Québec and the rest of the world, adapting foreign formats to Québec television and exporting series made in Québec to other countries. With the popularity of our series, both in Québec and in more than 130 countries, we can defi- nitely call ourselves laughter specialists.
