LIEUTENANT H DENT – DURHAM ARMY CADET FORCE

Lt Dent joined Durham ACF in March 2008 without any previous military or cadet experience but successfully passed her Initial Training Course with a glowing report. She initially spent some years as an instructor at Horden . Lt Dent quickly became an essential member of C attending almost every event with her focus on training and developing cadets as they progressed through the cadet syllabus.

Lt Dent became detachment commander of Ryhope Detachment in 2013. She remodelled and modernised the Detachment giving it currency which appealed much more to the young cadets. This resulted in the cadet numbers quickly growing. Her passion and commitment for the Cadet Movement has never wavered, she made training interesting and fun with a sense of achievement at the end of it. Ryhope is a challenging environment in which to operate and remain successful over a long period of time, Lt Dent’s efforts quickly singled her out as having the potential to be an ACF and so it was that she was commissioned to the rank of 2Lt in July 2013.

Lt Dent steadily developed a great passion for competition shooting and in January 2015 Lt Dent was appointed County Shooting Officer. She has worked very hard to maintain the shooting success the County had enjoyed over previous years. Most notably she had two cadets from her shooting team selected to attend a six week exchange visit to Canada as part of an ACF national shooting team. Lt Dent achieves all of this despite a very busy working life as a Data Development Manager.

Lt Dent fully deserves this recognition and for her commitment and dedication to Durham Army Cadet Force she is awarded the Lord ’s certificate for meritorious service.
