Order of Salvation Devotion

1. Election: Election is God’s eternal purpose to save some in and by Jesus Christ. This is an act of God before creation in which He chooses some people to be saved, not on account of any foreseen merit in them, but only because of his sovereign good pleasure.

2. Calling: Calling is the gracious act by which God invites sinners to accept salvation offered in Christ.

3. Regeneration: Regeneration is a hidden/secret act of God in which He imparts new spiritual life to us. We receive a new heart & become a new creation because this is an act of God by which the new life is implanted in man, and the governing disposition of the soul is made holy.

4. Conversion: Conversion is our willing response to the Gospel call, in which we sincerely repent of sins and place our trust in Christ for salvation. Those with regenerate hearts turn to Christ in faith and repentance. Conversion itself means turning— from sin to Christ. Conversion includes saving faith and repentance which have been called two sides of the same coin.

5. Justification: Justification is the act of God’s free grace by which he pardons all our sins and accepts us as righteous in His sight. He does so only because he counts the righteousness of Christ as ours. Justification is received by faith alone (Westminster Shorter Catechism-WSC #33).

6. Adoption: Adoption is the act of God’s free grace by which we become His sons with all the rights and privileges of being His (WSC #34).

7. Sanctification: Sanctification is the work of God’s free grace by which our whole person is made new in the image of God, and we are made more and more able to become dead to sin and alive to righteousness (WSC #35).

8. Perseverance of the Saints: All those who are truly born again will be kept by God’s power and will persevere as Christians until the end of their lives, and that only those who persevere until the end have been truly born again.

9. Glorification: Glorification is the final step in the application of . It will happen when Christ returns and raises from the dead the bodies of all believers for all time who have died. The Lord reunites the dead body of believers with their souls and changes the bodies of all believers who remain alive. In this way the Lord gives all believers, at the same time, perfect resurrection bodies like His own. During this time, he also unites heaven with earth and renews the world into a glorious garden-city, full of glory and empty of sin.
