4 Manufacturing Process The coal is fed mechanically to the boiler. The coal is then fed to the boiler furnace in the fluidized state with the support of combustion air

fed by the forced draught fan (FD Fan). The flue gas thus formed finally evacuated from the boiler to atmosphere through one 100 meter high chimney by the induced draught fan (ID Fan). In the process, the Hybrid Filter is interposed in the flue gas path before it escapes through the chimney. The dust in the flue gas is separated in the Hybrid Filter hoppers and disposed off pneumatically. The emission level through the chimney is maintained at less than 50 mgm/Nm3 level at all times.

The high pressure high temperature steam from the boiler is sent to one Turbo generator Set (TG Set) where the heat energy is converted in mechanical energy which in turn gets converted to electrical power by driving the generator. The fly ash produced is carried along with the flue gases. Hybrid Filter is interposed in the flue gas path where the fly ash is separated from flue gases, collected in hoppers and then pneumatically transported to Fly ash storage silo.

5. Raw Material Coal, Water, HCl & Caustic Soda will be major raw material in CPP. Coal The boiler has been designed for the coal for 100% load. Fuel Requirement Calculation Calorific Value of Coal 5000 -5700 kcal/Kg (Max 6500 ) Heat rate 3075 KCal/Unit (KWatt/Hr) Total Fuel Requirement 3075 X60 = 184.5 M KCal/hour Requirement of Coal [(184.5X1000000)/5400]= 34166 kg/hr Per day requirement of Coal 820 TPD

6. Water Supply The total quantity of water proposed to be consumed is about 6600 m3/day. The Water Balance for 2X30 MW TPP is given below:

10. Environment Management Plan

 Air Environment: Fugitive and stack emissions from the proposed project will contribute to increase in concentrations of SPM, SO2 and NOx pollutants. The mitigation measures recommended in the plant are: Installation of ESP of efficiency of 99.78% to limit the SPM concentrations below 50 mg/Nm3; Provision of flue stack of 100m height for wider dispersion of gaseous emissions; Provision of water sprinkling system at raw material storage yard; Asphalting of the roads within the plant area; Provision of dust extraction systems at dust generating source; Developing of Greenbelt (100-m wide towards village area and river course, 50 to 100- m wide towards nalla area) around the plant to arrest the fugitive emissions; Online flue gas monitors as well as flue gas flow rates and temperature measurement shall be provided for all stacks. Adequate stack height of 30 mt will be provided for the DG set to keep the air pollutants well within the prescribed limits; hence no additional emission control measures have been suggested. Idle running of vehicles will be minimized during material loading / unloading operations. Conveyors shall be provided with conveyor cover. All the workers shall be provided with dust mask.

Details of Pollution Control Equipments Sl. Pollution Control Description No. Equipments 1 Bag Filter The coal crushing plant will be installed. The necessary Bag filter will be provided to control the air pollution and to meet the norms fixed by State Pollution Control Board. 2 ESP A suitable ESP shall be installed after the boiler to meet the emission standards laid down by Pollution Control Board. The dust free gas shall be discharged into the atmosphere through a 100 m height stack. 3 Coal Storage and Coal will be conveyed by rail and it is unloaded and Handling stored in the long covered shed and therefore will be taken to plant by road which is 2.25 km away from the rail station. Coal is fed in the hopper by cranes and is transported to Thermal Power Plant by belt conveyor. Water sprinklers will be provided over the

Sl. Pollution Control Description No. Equipments belt conveyors to prevent any fugitive emission during handling of coal. Coal crusher will also be provided with pulse jet dust collector. Bag filter will be also been provided at vibrating screen and crusher area and transfer tower. 4 Handling of fly ash The quantity of fly ash from the flue gases of the generated from TPP different zones viz furnace, bank tubes, economizer & ESP will be collected and conveyed to common bunker by Dense Phase conveying system. The fly ash from the common bunker will be conveyed to silo. The whole system is totally enclosed and no emission will be generated. The common bunker of fly ash will also provided with pulse jet bag filter. The fly ash will be given to cement manufacturer.

 Noise Environment In the process, various equipments like pumps, cooling tower, Turbine, compressors etc generate the noise. The recommendations to mitigate higher noise levels are: Equipments should be designed to conform to noise levels prescribed by regulatory authorities; Provision of acoustic barriers or shelters in noisy workplaces; Provision of thick greenbelt to attenuate the noise levels; Provision of Personal Protective Equipments (PPE) such as earplugs, earmuffs to the workers working in high noise level area Walls and ceilings of the concerned buildings should be lined with sound absorbing materials. D.G. Set will be enclosed in a proper acoustic enclosure to reduce the noise emanating from it. Vehicles would not be allowed to queue outside the plant on the highway side. Vehicle and people flow during shift changes should be regulated by allowing exits in a phased manner. Moreover, continuous exposure in noise generating units shall be avoided. Workers will be subjected to regular medical examination for any symptoms of hearing loss.

 Water Environment Wastewater will be generated from cooling towers, boilers in the power plant. Besides, the domestic waste water generation from existing spinning plant and township. Considering the proposed terry towel project, which also attract waste water generation at huge volume, proper treatment system is required and therefore combined effluent treatment plant is suggested for proposed TPP and Terry towel project. The effluent from TPP section will not have much pollution load and it will help to dilute the concentration of effluent to be generated from towel/sheet sanction. The recommended measures to minimize the impacts and conservation of fresh water are: • Complete treatment system including RO followed by MEE is warranted so that permeate water from RO and MEE can be recycled towards towel process, cooling tower and ash disposal, coal handling and service water requirements; • The power plant raw water requirement shall be optimized. The COC in cooling system shall be maximized (such as COC=5); • Coal stock piles and ash ponds shall be provided with garland drains and water shall be treated for suspended / floating solids; • Lining of effluent collection tank suitably to prevent any seepage into ground to avoid any groundwater contamination; • Provision of separate storm water system to collect and store run-off water during rainy season and utilization of the same in the process to reduce the fresh water requirement; • Boundary wall towards the direction of Narmada River shall be constructed to avoid storm water flow of factory premises. • A drain along the boundary wall should be made , which will join the settling tank to protect the flow of contaminant towards nearby agricultural land • After the completion of the project and rainwater harvesting structures, there will be total ground water recharge would be 84206 m3/annum and 06 number of pits shall be created.

 Solid Waste Management Solid waste in the form of ash will be generated in a coal based thermal power plant. The total ash generated in the plant will be 205 TPD (185 + 20 TPD). Other than ash, gypsum will also be generated as waste following measures shall be taken for solid waste management: • Fly ash will be given to cement plants

• The excess bottom ash will be disposed off using slurry disposal system; • The sludge from existing Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) will be used as manure in greenbelt development after sludge digestion. Waste papers and boxes will be Sold off to vendors/ recyclers Used oil from DG set will be given to authorized recyclers.

 Biological Environment Greenbelt with a width of 50m to 100m will be developed around the plant site. The total greenbelt around the plant so far, about 33403. Out of total area of 600 acres acquired by M/s TCL, the area under plantation is 45 acres, which is 7.5 % of total area.
