Order: In the Government order fourth read above, orders were issued sanctioning the monetary grant to the recipients of Param , Maha Vir Chakar, Vir Chakra, Sena Medals and Mention-in-Despatches with effect from 13.12.1971 and to recipients of Ashoka Chakra, and . we.f. 12.11.1980

2.In the Government order fifth read above, orders were issued enhancing the then existing rates of monetary grants sanctioned in the Government Order fourth read above in respect of the Awards mentioned in para one above. The Government have also ordered that the above enhanced rates for the existing awards and monetary grants for awards newly included will take effect from the date of issue of orders. (i.e) 31.10.1990

3. There have been representations from those recipients of Gallantry Awards prior to the issue of these orders mentioned above for sanction of cash grants to them also. The Director of Ex.servicemen’s Welfare has recommended to Government that all the recipients of the Gallantry Awards who have not so far been given cash grants could be given the grants as per current scales, irrespective of the date of awards to the individuals.

4.The Government have examined the recommendation of the Director of Ex.servicemen’s Welfare and have decided to accept the same. It is now ordered that all recipients of the various gallantry awards mentioned in para 2 above, irrespective of the date of award, will be given cash grants at the scales mentioned in para 2 above.

5.The Personal Assistant to the Director of Ex.servicemen’s Welfare, Madras is authorised to draw and disburse the cash grants to the recipients of gallantry awards. Pending allocation of funds Pay & Accounts Officer (North) is directed to admit the bills.

6 The Director of Ex.servicemen Welfare is requested to include the expenditure in the Revised Estimate for the year 1992.93.

7. The Expenditure is debitable to “2235 Social Security and Welfare – 60 Other Social Security and Welfare Programmes – 200 Other Schemes – I Non Plan- AN grants to members of fighting services for conspicuous gallantry in the field -09 Grants in aid (DP code No.2235 60 200 AN 0903)

8. This order issues with the concurrence of Finance Department, vide its U.O.No. 4451/FS/P/92 dated 14.8.92.
