Age Divisions  Open Track & Field/LDR: 14 yrs. (female) 16 yrs. (male) - 34 yrs.  Open Race Walkers (male and female) may be 12, with special approval.  Masters: 5-year masters age divisions starting at age 35

Awards Medals will be awarded to the top three (3) individuals and relay teams in each event of each age division

Admission  Gates open at 7 a.m.  General admission shall be $3 per day.  There is no admission price for children 12-and-under.  There is not a cost for Military/Armed Services and Seniors 65 and over who present appropriate and respective Identification.

Clerking Area/Check-In The clerking area will be located at the SOUTHEAST CORNER of the infield area. Hip numbers will be collected by athletes at that area. Contestants will proceed to the start line prior to the race, as directed. Check in is no later than 30 minutes prior to the start of each respective event. Check in for field events are at the field event site. Please note that start times of all events are subject to change, based on the number of final entries.

Concessions Concessions for this meet will be available at the concession stands and via food trucks. We invite all to partake in the tasty treats that will be available.

Credentials  All-Access o Each Official shall receive a pass. These passes grant access to any championship hospitality area. o Individuals gain admission with a wristband, along with and any minor children accompanying them.  Media o All accredited working print and electronic media shall receive a media credential that will allow access to all designated media working and hospitality areas.

Crowd Control Appropriate security for the Championship will be provided. No artificial noisemakers will be permitted. Alcoholic beverages and tobacco products shall not be sold or brought to the site during the Championship.

Directions General directions via Interstate is located in Appendix A; however, you may want to use a GPS to navigate the trip.

Eligibility  Individuals o USATF Membership: 2018 USATF Membership is required for participation. Join/renew here. o Minimum Ages: Athletes must be 14 (women) or 16 (men) years of age on the day of competition to compete in the championships. All athletes must be age verified to compete in the age group events.  Relay Teams: o Only registered 2018 USATF member clubs may enter a relay team(s). o Athletes must choose there own relay team members and must register the relay no less than one hour before the scheduled competition time. Entries Athletes may enter 1-5 events.  $20 – 1 race walk event (there are 3 events which will run concurrently)  $30 – 1-5 events (Plus $5 for each additional event) If registering on site, please note that there is an additional $10 late registration fee.

Events All events shall be finals.

Facilities Barron Stadium, named for the area's first Coca-Cola bottler and distributor, F.S. Barron, is located at 300 West Third Street in downtown Rome. The Stadium boasts a 6,500-seat football field and track & field stadium in Rome, . It is home to the Hawks and Wolves football and track and field teams teams. The facility hosted the NAIA Football National Championship from 2008-13 and the NCCAA in 2013-14.

Barron Stadium is owned by the Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation Authority (RFPRA), a city-county partnership, and has been operated by the Rome City School District since 2015.

The track at Barron Stadium is named the John Maddox Track after a local track standout and 1932 Summer Olympics hopeful who successfully lobbied the city for a better municipal track facility and helped found the Rome News Relays, a major local track & field event. In 1971, the track at Barron was named after Maddox following his sudden death the previous year. Maddox track has hosted numerous events; including, but not limited to the Rome/Shorter Relays, NCAA DII Championship in 2017, the NCAA DII Peach Belt Conference Championship twice., and Southern States Athletic Conference Championship, as well as the NCCAA track championships from 2014-16, the NAIA Championships.

The newest additions to the John Maddox Track was the Rekortan G 13 Gel track surface at a new 40-meter warm-up area beside the John Maddox Track at Barron Stadium and at the Riverside Throws Center, a javelin runway pad. Shorter University and Rome were the first in the country to be award this advanced German-engineered synthetic running track system. The Riverside Throws Center is located at 472 Riverside Pkwy, Rome, GA 30165.

Games Committee The Games Committee consists of individuals who shall make decisions regarding situations that occur where resolution is not covered in the rules and regulations of the USATF championship handbook.

Honest Effort Policy Competitors shall conduct themselves in an honest and sporting fashion at all times toward opponents, officials and spectators. This includes competing to the best of their ability for a given circumstance (that is, honest effort).

Hospitality The Hospitality Area for meet administrators, officials and volunteers will be located in the room behind the home stadium, to the left of the men’s rest room. Make sure to show appreciation to Moe’s BBQ for providing your meals.

Implement Inspections Implement weigh-ins will be at Barron Stadium behind the home side bleachers. Athletes should bring all implements to the area. Implement inspections/weigh-ins will be conducted on the following schedule:  8:00 AM – Implement Certification - Discus  9:30 AM – Implement Certification – Shot Put  10:30 AM – Implement Certification- Pole Vault/Hammer/Javelin

Following inspection and weigh-ins, athletes will be shuttled to the throws area. The shuttle schedule is listed below under “Shuttles,” if you see there is a conflict, please see the meet director.

Infield Policy Athletes not warming up for an upcoming event or cooling down from a previous event will not be allowed on the infield area. No electronic devices, including headphones, are allowed in the infield area.

Merchandise A very limited amount of USATF Merchandise may (or may not) be available on-site for purchase during the championship. As of now, payment can only be made by cash or check.

Officials USATF certified Officials will serve as officials, judges, and umpires for the Championship events.

Parking Free parking is located on both sides of Barron Stadium, one area will be designated for Officials, as well as across the streets at the bank, hospital and at the adjacent tennis center. Free parking is also available at the Throw Center. Parking for participants and spectators, can also be found on the levee across the street from Barron Stadium. The team parking area for busses also will be on the levee. Please refer to Appendix B for parking map. Additional parking may be found at the parking lot on the north end of Barron Stadium.

Packet Pick Up Packet pickup begins at 7a.m.

Protest Committee The Protest Committee for the Track & Field Championship will include at least 3 members of the Games Committee Members, and may include the timer.

Protests There will be a $25.00 fee for all protests. Protests must be submitted to the Protest Referee at once and not later than 30 minutes after a result has been announced. The protest fee will be refunded if the protest is upheld. See Appendix C for protest form.

Records Established records need to be validated and require the signature of Officials, per the USATF guidelines. If you believe a record to be set, please immediately notify Cindy Slayton, Officials Chair.

Results During competition, event results will be posted on-site and online at http://www.ptgrouponline.com/Live/2018/Masters/GA/. In addition, event results will be posted at the end of the day at www.Georgia.usatf.org.

Sanction This Championship Meet is sanctioned by USATF. The sanction number is 18-45-069.

Shuttles For your convenience and for those interested Rome City Schools will provide free shuttle rides to and from Barron Stadium and the Riverside Throws Center for athletes, coaches and officials. For those preferring to drive, the Riverside Throws Area is located 1.5 miles from the stadium. It is about a 5 minute drive. The Riverside Throws Center is located at 472 Riverside Pkwy, Rome, GA 30165. The tentative shuttle times are as follows:

Spikes Requirements Only ¼” pyramid spikes are allowed on track surface.

Team Tent Areas The visiting side stands at Barron Stadium (west side) are designated as team areas. Tents are allowed on the visiting side stands and on the south end of the stadium. NO TENTS ARE ALLOWED on the home side stands (east side).

Timing The Perfect Timing Company (Perfect Timing) will serve as the timers for the Championship. Perfect Timing is the Official Timing Service for many events; among their clients are GHSA State Championship Meets (TF & XC), Emory University, Savannah State University, Tenn. State University, , Savannah State, Georgia Southern, Morehouse, Clark, MTSU, and a host of other universities. Additionally, they provide timing for countless high schools, USATF competitions for Youth/Open/Masters, and AAU sports. They offer affordable computer-based electronic timing for races (i.e. TF\XC, etc.). Perfect Timing utilizes the latest technology from Finishlynx, Ipico Sports and Hy-Tek Sports. Headquartered in Atlanta, they assert that they are the most active and efficient professional fully automatic timing (FAT) service company in Georgia. They are available to provide online data entry, meet management and timing services for all levels of racing competitions (i.e. track, XC, road, race walking, mud runs, etc.).

Volunteers To ensure that the meet can run as expeditiously as possible, some of the track and field athletes from Rome HS, Shorter University and Lincoln Memorial University, as well as members of various USATF committees will be assisting with the operation of the meet.

Warm Up Areas A 40-meter Rekortan G 13 Gel surfaced warm-up track area is available beside the John Maddox Track for sprint warm-ups. Warm up areas are also available at the Riverside Throws Center.

Waivers All participants are asked to sign a participant waiver and Release of Liability, Assumption of Risk and Indemnity Agreement. Copies will be available at the meet and will be posted online.
