The Museum at Campbell River is pleased to offer a talk by renowned local historian Jeanette Taylor on Thursday, April 28, from 6:30pm- 8 pm. Taylor will talk about some of the outstanding places people can visit along the inner coast of North Vancouver Island, from Kingcome Inlet to the Discovery Islands. Included will be a look into Bute Inlet, Desolation Sound and the Broughton Islands. As always, Taylor will spice the talk with fascinating stories about the old Halliday Farm at Kingcome Inlet, Quadra Island’s Lucky Jim Mine (a place that still captivates people with talk of gold) and the dozen or so petroglyphs on the beach below Tsa-Kwa-Luten Lodge. Also included will be a description of the many kayak routes people can follow, to Desolation Sound and off the north shore of Quadra Island in Kanish Bay and Small Inlet. The talk will be an excellent opportunity to begin planning some special trips for the summer tourist, or for locals to get out and explore their own backyard! For those interested in getting out on the water this summer, the talk will serve as an introduction to the Museum’s Summer Historic Boat Tours, offered by the Columbia III and Discovery Marine Safaris. Information on those trips can be found on the museum’s website at www.crmuseum.ca. The cost for the talk is $6.00.
