The visit gives attendees an opportunity to discuss pressing issues such as transportation, education and funding for bioscience research, as well as express the importance of Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City. The visit, June 29-30, is open to all Chamber members. While visiting the nation’s Capitol, Oklahoma City delegates will meet with a number of legislators including Senators Jim Inhofe and Tom Coburn and Representatives Dan Boren, James Langford, Frank Lucas and Tom Cole. On September 16, the Oklahoma City Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) celebrated National Convention Services Day by hosting a city-wide luncheon to recognize the importance of the convention services industry as the front line of promoting Oklahoma City as a visitor and convention destination. With 19 convention services managers from 10 different hotel properties in attendance, Jennifer Fichtman and Ashley Young, convention services managers for the CVB, programmed the first luncheon of this kind with hopes to make it a quarterly event. “We wanted to recognize the work convention services managers do around our city and let them know we appreciate them,” said Fichtman. “Our goal is to make this into a regular networking meeting of convention services managers from properties across the city.
