Veterans’ Health Thursday, Sept. 21, 7 pm (Rpt. Sunday, Sept. 24, 1 pm) A new generation of American vets is home from war — about 2.6 million of them. Plus there are about 10 million older veterans, many from the Vietnam era, hitting their 60s, 70s or 80s. From mental health issues to pain and illness that persist long after they’ve left the battlefield, veterans face a multitude of health troubles either unique to their service or more frequent among them than the general population. This edition brings together a panel of professionals who work exclusively with local veterans.

9 Looking Back — And Looking Ahead Steadying the Course Into the Future As you read this, we’ll have just finished another fiscal year or just started a new one. Looking back, There were so many encouraging results and most of this past fiscal year was about: revelations that highlighted our recent August Celebration — Our 50th Anniversary as a station (with a visit from PBS President Paula Kerger) Membership Campaign. One was that digital Sustainers and another Emmy nomination (this time for our Documentary Carl Maxey-A Fighting Life); communication tools are starting to come into Make the KSPS World Go ’Round! Community Outreach — from MediaFest, where high school students learned about job their own. Another is that KSPS Sustainers are on opportunities in broadcast, print and online media, to FitKids Fest where nearly a thousand kids of the rise. In the August campaign alone, 27% of donations took the form of long-term Sustainers. In Gary Stokes all ages spent the day running, jumping and playing; and fact, Sustainier donations now account for about $1 million of the KSPS income stream! Looking back, There were so many encouraging results and most of this past fiscal year was about: revelations that highlighted our recent August Celebration — Our 50th Anniversary as a station (with a visit from PBS President Paula Kerger) Membership Campaign. One was that digital Sustainers and another Emmy nomination (this time for our Documentary Carl Maxey-A Fighting Life); communication tools are starting to come into Make the KSPS World Go ’Round! Community Outreach — from MediaFest, where high school students learned about job their own. Another is that KSPS Sustainers are on opportunities in broadcast, print and online media, to FitKids Fest where nearly a thousand kids of the rise.
