CARTA DE INVITACIÓN
Estimado/a Sr/Sra.:
Mediante la presente, reciba esta invitación cordial por parte del equipo investigador del proyecto “Ensayos de variedades hortícolas tradicionales y comerciales bajo manejo en Agricultura Ecológica”, a las jornadas participativas de evaluación y transferencia de conocimientos que tendrá lugar el día 16 de Julio de 2010. Las jornadas están organizadas por el CAEM, Centro de Agricultura Ecológica y de Montaña (INIA, Junta de Extremadura), con ubicación en Plasencia, Cáceres. Durante las visitas guiadas en campo, tendrán la oportunidad de observar in-situ una gran diversidad de variedades de cultivos de hortícolas. Sobre unas 45 variedades de tomates, pimientos y melones de variedades tradicionales de Extremadura, como son el Tomate “Rosado”, el “Gordo de Jaraíz”, el pimiento “Cornicabra” o el melón de “Hervás” y otras variedades comerciales de interés disponibles en los mercados actuales como por ejemplo: los tomates “Matías”, ”Caramba”, ”Rioalto”, ”Pyntino” o “San Marzano”,los pimientos “Festos Eko”, “Coperi”, “Pairal”,” Pedral”, “Pisa”, o los melones “Piñonet Papiro”, ”Don Quixote”, ”Amarillo Canario”, ”Stalone” entre otros . Además podrán participar en la valoración de variedades en campo, mediante el cumplimiento de un sencillo cuestionario. En nuestro interés está contribuir a que la Agricultura Ecológica sea una alternativa para la diversificación de las actividades agrarias en las zonas rurales y pueda ayudar a desarrollar nuevas iniciativas, capaces de soportar las necesidades futuras de alimentos y los retos del cambio climático, ayudando a conservar la biodiversidad y el medioambiente compartido.

Please receive this cordial invitation from the research team of the project “On-Farm Evaluation of Traditional and Commercial Horticultural Crop Varieties grew under Organic Cultivation Management” to the Knowledge transfer field workshop that would take place on the 16 th of July 2010. The workshop is organized by CAEM, Centre for Organic and Mountain Agriculture, located in Plasencia, Caceres, Extremadura, Spain. During the field workshop you would have a chance to observe in-situ a great diversity of horticultural crop varieties .About 45 different varieties of tomatoes, peppers and melons, these including some traditional varieties from Extremadura as “Rosado” tomato, “Gordo de Jaraiz” tomato, “Cornicabra” pepper and melon from de local area of “Hervás” as well as interesting commercial varieties available in the markets as “Caramba”, ”Matías”,”Rioalto”, ”Pyntino”, ”Salper” or “San Marzano” tomatoes, peppers like “Pairal”, ”Pisa”, “Festos Eko”, “Coperi” and “Don Quixote”, ”Amarillo Canario”, and ”Piñonet Papiro” melons among other varieties. As well you could contribute to evaluate the field performance of these varieties by filling up a simple questionnaire.
It is in our best interest to contribute to enhance Organic Agriculture as an alternative to diversify activities in rural areas, promoting to development of new initiatives which are capable to provide future alternatives to food needs and climatic changes, helping to conserve biodiversity and the shared environment.
