[The committee met at 10:05.] The Chair: — Carried. Seeing that we have no further business this morning, I will ask a member to move a motion of Mr. Park: — All right. Good morning and welcome to the adjournment. Intergovernmental Affairs Standing Committee. My name is Robert Park and I am the Committee Clerk. Mr. Lawrence: — I so move.

The committee has received a letter of resignation from The Chair: — Mr. Lawrence has moved a motion to adjourn. Is Ms. Ross. Since she has resigned as Chair, it is my duty as that agreed? Committee Clerk to preside over the election of a Chair. How this will work is I will first ask for nominations. Once there are Some Hon. Members: — Agreed. no further nominations, I will ask for a member to move that motion to have the committee member preside as Chair. I will The Chair: — Carried. That Fred Bradshaw be elected to preside as Chair of the Standing Committee on Intergovernmental Affairs and Justice.

Mr. Park: — Mr. Lawrence has moved:

That Fred Bradshaw be elected to preside as Chair of the Standing Committee on Intergovernmental Affairs and Justice.

Mr. Park: — Carried. Mr. Bradshaw, take the Chair, please.

The Chair: — Well thank you, committee. We will now proceed with the election of the Deputy Chair. Pursuant to rule no. 123(2), the Deputy Chair must be an opposition member unless specified in the rules. Given that Mr. Belanger is the only member of the opposition on the committee, I will ask a member to move that Buckley Belanger be elected to preside as Deputy Chair of the Standing Committee on Crown and Central Agencies.

Mr. McCall. Oh, I’m sorry; I wasn’t reading that right.

Okay, let’s go over this all over again. I’m asking for a motion:

That Buckley Belanger be elected to preside as Deputy Chair of the Standing Committee on Intergovernmental Affairs.

Mr. McCall: — Thank you very much, Mr. Chair. I’d be happy to place the name of Buckley Belanger in nomination as Deputy Chair of the Standing Committee on Intergovernmental Affairs and Justice.

The Chair: — Thank you, Mr. McCall. Mr. McCall has moved Buckley Belanger is the Deputy Chair of Intergovernmental Affairs and Justice. Is that agreed?
