Two history books, “Rejoicing in the Lord” & “Family of Faith” have been published to help commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Catholic Diocese of Wilmington. “Rejoicing in the Lord” is a hard-cover, 336-page, full-color, glossy 10 inch by 10 inch book that features histories and photographs of all Catholic churches in Delaware and Maryland’s Eastern Shore, plus biographies of all nine Wilmington bishops, with important ministries and events highlighted. “Family of Faith” is a 35-page, color diocesan history done in the comic book or graphic novel style that would appeal to middle schoolers and teens. “Rejoicing in the Lord” is available for $40.00 each and “Family of Faith” is sold for $18.00 each. While supplies last, books are available at the Parish Office at the rectory.
Be in the Know with Gentle Reminders! “Canon law (1247) states that on Sundays and other holy days of obligation, the faithful are obliged to participate in the Mass. However, the law does not expect the impossible nor can the fulfillment of the obligation according to the norm of the law be burdensome or dangerous. There is no obligation to attend Mass if weather and/or road conditions are unsafe or make travel dangerous or difficult, or, if one is unable to get out of their driveway or parked space. Those persons who are unable to attend Mass under such conditions may view the celebration of Mass on television, depending on local television schedules. Sometime should be given to private or family prayer in order to sanctify the Lord’s Day.

Bishop Malooly will preside at a concelebrated memorial Mass for the repose of the soul of Bishop Robert E. Mulvee, retired bishop of Providence, R.I., and seventh bishop of Wilmington. The Mass will be held Jan. 13 at 12:30 p.m., at the historic Cathedral of Saint Peter, Sixth and N. West Streets, Wilmington. All are welcome to attend.
