HARDER ’97 NAMED TO RAIDERS HOCKEY STAFF Former Colgate All-American Mike Harder ‘97 joined the Colgate hockey staff on a full-time basis in July as he was promoted from volunteer assistant to assistant coach. Harder remains Colgate’s all-time leading scorer with 214 points. He finished his career with 88 goals and 126 assists. His best statistical season came in 1995 when he scored 58 points on 22 goals and 36 assists. He went on to earn 1997 All-American honors and was a Hobey Baker Finalist. Harder was elected to the Colgate Athletics Hall of Honor in 2008. A native of St. Adolphe, Manitoba, Harder earned his degree in international relations. After graduation, Harder played 13 seasons professionally. Included were stops in the along with European League ventures in Germany, Austria, Finland, Sweden and Italy. He helped Hartford claim the AHL’s Calder Cup in 2000, and then was a key figure in a 2004 championship in the Deutsch Eishockey Liga, or German Elite League.

HAMILTON SHINES IN FIRST COLLEGIATE START Freshman goaltender Zac Hamilton was quite impressive during his first collegiate start against Yale at Starr Rink on Nov. 22. The Ottawa, Ont., product allowed just two goals and finished the evening with 38 saves in a 3-1 setback to the Bulldogs. He recorded 17 saves in the first period and made 13 stops in the second before turning aside all eight shots faced in the third. The 38 saves by Hamilton represents the most stops by a Colgate keeper in a game this season.

GOULAKOS PRESEASON ALL-ECAC PICK Senior defenseman Spiro Goulakos was named Preseason All-ECAC Hockey selection by the media. The Montreal, Que., product was an All-ECAC Third-Team selection last season as he recorded 20 points (9 G, 11 A) while also registering a team-best 62 blocked shots. GOULAKOS RETURNS AS TEAM CAPTAIN Senior defensemen Spiro Goulakos will once again serve as captain for the Colgate men’s ice hockey program. In his first season as captain, Goulakos enjoyed a solid 2013-14 campaign, earning All-ECAC Hockey Third Team accolades after racking up 20 points (9 G, 11 A) to go along with 62 blocked shots. Even more impressive is the fact that he did all this after being diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma during the second half of the 2012-13 season. Goulakos left the team for treatment and missed a total of 10 games during his sophomore season. He did come back for the postsea- son, playing at St. Lawrence in the first round of the ECAC Hockey Tournament. He went through treatment in the spring and summer in his hometown of Montreal and was told he was in remission prior to coming back to campus last fall.

WILSON NAMED ALTERNATE CAPTAIN AGAIN Joining Goulakos with a letter on his sweater for a second consecutive season is Joe Wilson, who will be the alternate captain for the Raiders. The senior has had a great career so far for the Raiders, registering 66 points (26 G, 40 A) in 114 games played. Last season, Wilson finished with 20 points on eight goals and 12 assists as he played most of the season on a line featuring two rookies (Andrew Black & Tim Harrison).

BORKOWSKI OUT FOR SEASON WITH KNEE INJURY Colgate Men’s Ice Hockey coach Don Vaughan announced that Mike Borkowski will miss the remainder of the 2014-15 season. The junior for- ward underwent successful surgery after suffering a knee injury against Quinnipiac on Nov. 7. Borkowski suffered the injury during the second period of the Raiders’ contest against the Bobcats.
