The Honorable Patrick J. Leahy, Ranking Member, Committee on the Judiciary, United States Senate

Dear Chairman Grassley and Ranking Member Leahy:

The Runaway and Homeless Youth Act (RHYA), originally part of the Juvenile Justice & Delinquency Prevention Act and last reauthorized by the Reconnecting Homeless Youth Act of 2008 (P.L.110-378), provides vital services to runaway, homeless, and disconnected youth. This modest investment has laid the foundation for a national system of services for our most vulnerable young people, runaway and homeless youth, and we urge your full support of this legislation. School-age children not living with their parents are at the greatest risk for coerced labor exploitation, domestic servitude, or commercial sexual exploitation.
