Malahide Castle is in north Co . It was the longest 1 ………………………………. castle in Ireland. The Norman 2 ………………………………… called the Talbots, lived in the castle for over 800 years. Many historic castles and houses have one ghost, some have two or three, but Malahide Castle has five. Three of these ghosts are more commonly known: Lady Maud Plunkett, Miles Corbett and Puck, a castle jester/caretaker. Lady Maud Plunkett was a maid, a bride and a widow all in the same day! She appears in her 3 ………………………………… dress and she can be seen walking through the corridors of the castle. The 4 ………………………………… ghost, Miles Corbett was an Englishman. He was given the castle by Cromwell when the Talbot family were thrown out of the castle. He committed many crimes against the local Catholic people and also desecrated the chapel near the castle. Some years 5 ……………………………… , when the Talbots regained power of the castle again, Miles Corbett paid the price of his many wrong doings. He was hanged, drawn and quartered. A very nasty ending for a very nasty person! Now his 6 ……………………………… body rides around the castle grounds at night! Poor little Puck and his last appearance were reported during the sale of the contents of the castle in May 7 ………………………… . The last Lord Talbot died and his sister could not afford to pay the very high death taxes. She had to auction the castle and then she moved to 8 ………………………………… . Puck's dwarf figure makes its appearance in many photographs of the castle and one outstanding photograph shows his old bewitching and 9 ……………………………… face peering out of the Ivy on the wall. The castle with its 800 year old family history is 10 ……………………………. with many unseen and unknown spirits and their presence is felt in every room.
