www.AllYearFSC.com All Year FSC Celebrates 75 Years of Skating in Southern! California! The All Year Figure Skating Club celebrated its 75th anniversary on January 17, 2014 with a Diamond Jubilee Gala at the Downtown on Ice rink at Pershing Square in Los Angeles. Formed in 1939, All Year FSC has hosted many prominent competitions, including the 2002 State Farm U.S. Figure Skating Championships and the annual Golden West Championships. Its members have won national titles and competed at the Olympics, World Championships and other major international competitions. The club sent 33 skaters to the 2014 Prudential U.S. Championships, where they won nine medals, including a silver medal by !Olympic ice dancer Madison Chock. Parents, skaters, officials and friends joined to commemorate decades of figure skating in Southern California. The fourth largest U.S. club with more than 500 members, All Year supports all levels of skaters, from beginners to elite competitors. Club president Janis Engel welcomed attendees and Doug Williams served as emcee for the evening’s skating show. Williams recognized special guests, including club firsts: 1970 U.S. junior champion, Richard Ewell, 1992 Olympian Scott Wendland, and Rena Inoue and John Baldwin, who performed the first throw triple Axel at the 2006 Olympics. Other honorees !included Naomi Nari Nam, Carol Hunt and Danielle Kahle. Guests were treated to a star studded skating show featuring many of today’s top skaters as well as various greats of the past. Trifun Zivanovic proved he can still do a triple toe loop. The pairs team of Sharon Carz and Williams reunited for a performance. This wonderful team represented the United States at world and international competitions 23 years ago, Baldwin thanked Williams for the club’s support throughout his career. Coach Crystalrose Guerra’s award winning Theater on Ice group closed the show with an energetic performance to “The Addams Family”. Richard Dornbush and Phillip Warren performed side-by-side back !flips during one of the curtain calls. All Year FSC's 75th Diamond Jubilee Gala was most certainly a night to remember! “I have been honored to be the president and part of this great club with wonderful volunteers and a board of directors that passionately care about what we do”, Engel reflected. “It’s truly a special evening.” Performances included: ▪ Richard Dornbush, 2011 U.S. Championships Senior Men Silver Medalist, 2010-11 Junior Grand Prix Champion ▪ Courtney Hicks, 2011 U.S. Championships Junior Ladies National Champion ▪ Leah Keiser, 2010 Novice Ladies National Champion, 2008 Juvenile National Champion ▪ Vanessa Lam, 2014 U.S. Championships Senior Ladies competitor ▪ Caroline Zhang, 2007 World Junior Champion, 2007, U.S. junior silver medalist, 2006, Junior Grand Prix Final champion ▪ Vincent Zhou, Senior Men competitor ▪ Tyler Pierce, 2014 U.S. Championships Junior Ladies Silver Medalist ▪ Elizabeth Nguyen, 2014 U.S. Championships Junior Ladies competitor ▪ Ai Setoyama and David Botero, 2014 U.S. Championships Novice Pairs National Champions ▪ Starr Andrews, 2014 U.S. Championships Juvenile Girls Pewter Medalist ▪ Trifun Zivanovic, Olympic & World competitor, 6-timeNational Champion (Serbia, Serbia & Monetnegro, Yugoslavia) ▪ Sharon Carz and Doug Williams, World and national competitors ▪ Rena Inoue and John Baldwin, Olympic & World competitors, 2004 & 2006 National Champions, first team to land a ! throw triple Axel at the Olympic Winter Games (2006) Vendors: Willie Bietak Productions, Coronado Video, Classic Party Rentals, Monrose Catering, Rolf Juario Photography ISU 2014 Grand Prix Series - All Year FSC members assigned to !competitions: 2014 Hilton HHonors Skate America – Chicago – Oct. 24-26, 2014 Pairs: Brandon Frazier (with partner, Haven Denney) !Ice dance: Madison Chock (with partner, Evan Bates) Skate Canada International – Kelowna, British Columbia – Oct. 31-Nov. 2, 2014 !Ladies: Courtney Hicks Cup of China – Shanghai – Nov. 7-9, 2014 U.S. Figure Skating Team !Men’s: Richard Dornbush !Envelopes, 2014-15 season Rostelecom Cup – Moscow – Nov. 14-16, 2014 Team A Ladies: Vanessa Lam Ice dance: Madison Chock (with Pairs: Brandon Frazier (with partner, Haven Denney) partner, Evan Bates) Ice dance: Madison Chock (with partner, Evan Bates) ! !
