HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 56

1 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION URGING THE EFFORT OF LEGISLATIVE AND 2 POLITICAL BIPARTISANSHIP IN THE STATE OF TO 3 REESTABLISH POLITICAL COOPERATION ACROSS PARTIES, AND ENCOURAGING 4 THE OBSERVANCE OF "SERVE TOGETHER: NATIONAL WEEK OF POST-PARTISAN 5 ACTION" DURING THE WEEK OF FEBRUARY 17-21, 2020. 6 WHEREAS, during the week of February 17-21, 2020, the 7 Millennial Action Project (MAP) and the various state Future

8 Caucuses will observe the first "Serve Together: National Week of 9 Post-Partisan Action," to encourage the reestablishment of 10 political cooperation across parties by moving beyond conventional 11 party divides and inviting all opinions to the conversation, while 12 also highlighting the post-partisan leadership of affiliate Future 13 Caucuses and young legislators across the country; and 14 WHEREAS, the Millennial Action Project is the largest,

15 national nonpartisan organization activating young leaders in 16 Congress, and state legislatures across the country, to transcend 17 political polarization and develop new and innovative policy 18 approaches and solutions together; and

No. 56 *HR31/R1709* ~ OFFICIAL ~ N1/2 20/HR31/R1709 PAGE 1 (DJ\JAB) 19 WHEREAS, the State Future Caucus Network (SFCN) fosters 20 bipartisan dialogue and expertise exploration among state 21 legislators dedicated to advancing future-oriented solutions to 22 the issues facing the Millennial and future generations; and 23 WHEREAS, working directly with our nation's leading young 24 policymakers on both a national and state level to spur bipartisan

25 legislation and innovative policy solutions, MAP gives the 26 nation's young leaders the resources and support to create, 27 introduce, and pass legislation and forge productive partnerships 28 on the issues affecting the youngest generation of Americans, 29 which has experienced the advancement of legislation on issues 30 including entrepreneurship, technology, 21st century skills 31 training, veterans' employment, immigration, volunteerism and

32 more; and 33 WHEREAS, the Mississippi Future Caucus led by Representative 34 and Representative , is a group of 35 young legislators committed to working towards a culture of 36 political cooperation in the great State of Mississippi, and

37 consists of the following intrepid Legislators: Representatives 38 Otis Anthony, , , , Lataisha

39 Jackson, John Thomas "Trey" Lamar III, Kent McCarty, Jansen Owen, 40 , Darryl Porter, Noah Sanford, and 41 Shanda Yates; and Senators Jennifer Branning, Joel Cart, Jr., 42 Jeremy England, Tyler McCaughn, , and Neil 43 S. Whaley; and

No. 56 *HR31/R1709* ~ OFFICIAL ~ 20/HR31/R1709 PAGE 2 (DJ\JAB) 44 WHEREAS, during the week of February 17-21, 2020, the 45 Mississippi Future Caucus is participating in the Millennial 46 Action Project's first ever "Serve Together: National Week of 47 Post-Partisan Action," marked by young leaders moving beyond 48 partisan divides to usher in a new era of collaboration and 49 innovative approaches to policy:

50 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF 51 REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING 52 THEREIN, That we hereby recognize the Millennial Action Project 53 and the Mississippi Future Caucus of the Future Caucus Network, 54 for their individual and collaborative efforts to lead on issues 55 critical to the future of our state. 56 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the citizens of the State of

57 Mississippi as well as all elected political officials and 58 activist are encouraged to observe the week of February 17-21, 59 2020 as "Serve Together: National Week of Post-Partisan Action" 60 in the state. 61 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be

62 furnished to the officers of the Mississippi Future Caucus, to the 63 President of the Millennial Action Project, and to the members of

64 the Capitol Press Corps.
