JOB TITLE: Head Coach, Women’s Thunder, North West Thunder, Women’s Originals Full Time

1. MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB (one statement explaining the job’s overall objective)

To lead the coaching programme and management of the women’s teams in the ambitious new strategic cycle, achieving and maintaining the highest standards of excellence in professional women’s cricket.

2. JOB SPECIFIC TASKS (the major end results the job is expected to achieve)

• To take specific responsibility for the running and performance of the North West regional senior women’s team, the Manchester Originals women’s team in the Hundred and the development of the professional and amateur playing staff.

• Be responsible to the Performance Director for the physical fitness, discipline, coaching, tactical instruction, development programmes and standard of play of the regional women’s squad and the Manchester Originals women’s squad. To include implementation of personal development plans for each player.

• Manage, coordinate and direct the supporting coaching staff, including leading on the initial recruitment of these roles.

• Be responsible, along with the relevant for the selection of the playing eleven from the selected squad.

• Undertake and participate in sponsorship, advertising and other similar promotional activities on behalf of, or organised by the Club and co-operate in any promotional activities arranged by the Club sponsor.

• To provide recommendations to the Performance Director on recruitment, contracts, player development and general cricket strategies as appropriate.

• To create a coaching programme and to organise practice sessions for professional squad and non-contracted players in conjunction with the coaching staff.

• Monitor and update winter training programmes including players playing overseas.

In conjunction with the Performance Director:

• Ensure players receive the appropriate appraisals, providing feedback and setting objectives and goals to be achieved.

• Oversee the development of players within the regional academy structure.

• Prepare and recommend an itinerary for any pre-season training camps.

• Liaise with the Sports Science & Medicine staff as appropriate.

• Liaise with other department managers in the Club.

• Liaise with the Head Groundsman on pitch and practice facilities.

• Liaise with ECB management team as appropriate.

3. KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS NEEDED (the expertise needed to perform the job to the required standard)

• An understanding of the structure and requirements of cricket in the North West region. • Experience as Head Coach or leader of a high performance team. • A minimum of ECB Level 3 coaching qualification or International equivalent with a requirement to reach Level 4 within two years of appointment. • Excellent knowledge and understanding of women’s cricket. • Experience of strategic planning, implementation and monitoring of development programmes for high performance cricketers. • Experience of developing and implementing innovative ideas and putting them into practice. • Ability to educate and motivate players and coaches through coaching programmes. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Team leadership and organisational skills. • Excellent knowledge and understanding of sport sciences. • Good computer literacy including performance analysis software.
