16 FINANCIALS

The Figge finished the 2019 fiscal year with a positive operating result. Operating revenue exceeded operat- ing expenses by $219,664, exclusive of depreciation. Both contribution income and income earned through museum activities (i.e., admissions, Museum Store revenue and memberships) benefited from the strength of the exhibitions offered, especially French Moderns. Additionally, the generous contribution made by Quad City Bank & Trust for naming rights to the Figge Grand Lobby space had a significant impact. Residual construction debt on the building amounted to $883,418 on June 30, 2019. As a result of the successful efforts of the Figge Board of Trustees to secure funding to eliminate all remaining construction debt, the Figge has secured the remainder of the $2 million of matching funds needed to meet the Bechtel Trust’s $1 million challenge grant. Based on the payout schedule of these funds, all remaining debt will be eliminated by mid-2020.
